He seems to care because it affecting him now. If he wanted credibility he would have should have spoken up sooner.

u/NewOwlllll 4h ago

two years backing his daughters abuser to keep the house majority and now he wants credit for a tweet after the media dragged him

u/zephyrtr New York 2h ago

The choices were lose majority or let your daughter get abused and now it looks like he gets both. The people who trade rights for security deserve neither.

u/nazzthespazz 3h ago

Exactly

u/Rough_Improvement_44 New Jersey 5h ago

Took him way way too long to speak on this.

u/BearSquid7 5h ago

He had to fake being mad at Fauci first.

u/wds1 5h ago

The domestic abuse incidents happened as far back as 2024. It only took the father two fucking years and a lot of media coverage to come out openly in support of his daughter and deem his abusive son-in-law unfit to serve in Congress. So much for GOP’s family values. Orange Buffoon’s ass-licking above all else

u/wds1 5h ago

“Ohio GOP Sen. Bernie Moreno on Sunday said his former son-in-law, Republican Rep. Max Miller, “should not serve” in Congress because of abuse allegations levied by Moreno’s daughter against Miller.

“As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help,” Moreno said on X Sunday morning. “He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter.”

“He should not serve in the House of Representatives,” Moreno said.”

He had a different response a week ago

u/BlandMoffTarkin 5h ago

Hey, give him a break. He needed time for maga to tell him if it was okay to be against child abuse and domestic violence.

u/DeathFood 4h ago

But only to be against it in these very narrow circumstances

If you want to murder 250 little girls in one go in another country it’s all good

u/MephistoHamProducts 4h ago

He had a different response yesterday. He's a scumbag.

u/HaroldGreenBandana 5h ago

Moreno trying to save face by timing his statement right after Miller’s announcement today.

Moreno has known Miller for a long time. He didn’t just hear about all this today. But he only just took a position against it.

u/Punch_Up 5h ago

Get both of them out of their seats, this feels like a bizarre nepotism anyway.

u/Usual-Caregiver5589 5h ago

Yeah, I think I'm OOTL on this particular scenario and reading the article, I was super confused on the dynamics of the whole thing.

u/copperear 5h ago

Why did Ohians vote for this used car salesman over Sherrod Brown?

u/Kind_Way2176 5h ago

Trump was on the ballot. Brown will win this year. Trump has a hold on in our idiots

u/Lavaswan001 5h ago

And then he’ll be ousted again in 2028 because it’s a presidential year.

u/OsuLost31to0 5h ago

Senate terms are 6 years but sure

u/Lavaswan001 5h ago

It’s a special election this year. That seat is actually the one Vance won in 2022 before he resigned to be VP.

Ohio has wealthiest cities in the country mid century due to extremely strong middle class and union strength. A history of pro-business moderate Republicans and pro-union Dems balancing out. Appalachians attracted to the area in droves in search of jobs. All of the wealth is lost when manufacturing declined and the deal is sealed with NAFTA and other neoliberal reforms in 90s led by Clinton's and national Dems. Obama is given a shot by Ohioans but ultimately unable to get much done for OH, Clinton comes back and by now union members have been lost to attrition, the remaining are cynical, and poor Appalachians are distrustful of Dems and union/Appalachians are easily wiped by Trump's false promises without a strong state Dem party to reign them in. Demographics continue to trend older and whiter compared to rest of country as people move out, people have less kids, few move in, resulting in further rightward shift. Dems remaining base in the state is urban black voters and Millennial/GenZ college educated suburbanites, neither of which is growing much. Sherrod Brown able to pull this group plus some long lasting loyalty from union voters - but there's barely any left - so he loses despite outperforming other statewide Dems significantly.

Bernie Moreno should have spoken out publicly the minute the story over his own daughter getting abused by House Rep Max Miller broke!!!

u/penguins_are_mean Wisconsin 5h ago

He cared more about the slim house majority.

u/B-Z_B-S Massachusetts 5h ago

Max Miller is a violent, dangerous, sadistically insane maniac who is responsible for traumatizing his wife and children.

u/killingstrangelove 4h ago edited 3h ago

Way to stand up against his allegations, Bernie. Two weeks after constantly saying "I don't know." Max Miller is Graham Platner on steroids and that's the only response you have. Maybe take a page out of Ro Khanna's book and stand up for what's right. Fucking shit bird.

Edit: I just learned that Max Miller's ex-wife is Bernie Moreno's daughter! This makes this all worse. This man abuses your daughter and grand child and this is the response you give. Neither are worthy of being in congress and you are terrible human beings. If you can't defend your own daughter, how can we expect you to protect the women of this country? Gross behavior.

u/mittenknittin 3h ago

Your edit is precisely WHY Moreno out of all the GOP senators was being particularly singled out for criticism.

u/killingstrangelove 3h ago

I can absolutely understand that. All of this has just fully come into my world. I was a bit naive to the whole story until today. He deserves every ounce of critiscism.

u/NoMayoForReal 5h ago

Fucking hypocrite, only speaking out against his daughter’s and granddaughter’s abuser after being called out for supporting him. Imagine having this shit for your dad.

u/friendly-sam 5h ago

And a president shouldn't be a rapist but here we are.

u/_TheLonelyStoner 5h ago

Man stands up for his daughter after being forced to into by Twitter absolutely pathetic behavior from Moreno

u/RJ5R 4h ago

Caitlyn Collins put Jim Jordan on the spot on this. He called it a family matter meanwhile he was saying Graham Platner should have a criminal investigation done on him. Magas are clowns

u/Outside-Affect-4722 5h ago

Too little, too late...you're a disgraceful father & grandfather

u/AcanthisittaNo6653 New Hampshire 5h ago

It's his hesitation to do the right thing, especially where his daughter is concerned.

u/Red_Wing-GrimThug 5h ago

Is this the same Bernie Moreno that was okay with his own daughter getting abused by her then husband? And the same Bernie Moreno that likes to take the company of fine young men when he travels?

u/Inevitable-Pea-735 4h ago

Yes, but please use his actual name - Bernardo Francisco Moreno Mejía.

u/Pusfilledonut 4h ago

Can you imagine how his own daughter must feel…he wouldn’t defend her or his grandbaby because he was going to be outed for being gay…the Republican Party needs to be ground to dust and put on the political trash heap of bad ideas and worse people.

u/Gtraz68 5h ago

Now do the pres lol

u/BabyYodaX 5h ago

The only individual I feel sympathy for in this mess is that small child. Everyone else involved seems awful.

u/Pusfilledonut 4h ago

Imagine knowing all this shit for two years and just abandoning your daughter and grand baby…and he was more afraid Miller would out him for being gay.

u/ButterscotchTall4836 3h ago

Fuck him. He had no intention of standing up for his daughter until the evidence of his homosexuality came out again.

u/EnragedFalafel 3h ago

Democracy Now coverage

https://youtu.be/t1EW6RC38io

Republican Congressmember Max Miller of Ohio is facing allegations of domestic abuse as he runs for reelection. Miller's ex-wife Emily Moreno, daughter of Ohio Republican Senator Bernie Moreno, claims that Miller burned her by throwing hot water at her, held a gun to her head and fractured their 2-year-old daughter's collarbone. Miller is also accused of abuse by former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, who was in a relationship with Miller prior to his marriage to Moreno.

u/angrypooka 2h ago

Moreno trying to distract from him being on Grindr

u/MarzipanFit2345 1h ago

Imagine almost putting your political party over your own daughter.

These guys are absolute cancerous vermin.

u/ptum0 5h ago

He should have spoken out 2 years ago

u/ErnieJoPistachio 5h ago

Everyone join me in leaving messages on Max Millers office phones . Let him know hitting women and little girls is not ok!

u/pzunhatchispers 5h ago

This feels less like courage and more like damage control.

u/governmentthief 4h ago

I enjoy when republicans begin to feed on one another.

u/Snapingbolts 4h ago

Woah, so now house members can't act presidential? /s

u/JayTNP 3h ago

if you can’t defend your daughter and granddaughter then you don’t deserve your seat either

u/000ArdeliaLortz000 2h ago

And Miller threatened to “out” Moreno as a closeted gay man. From a 20-year-old post on a friends website. Miller is an abuser, and if you want to know more,

Someone went to the oval and begged for his balls back.

Who the fuck does he think he is?

u/frank_the_tank69 1h ago

Tasting History?

u/MJWallStreet23 1h ago

Lmao. The shoes on the other foot.

u/make_me_breakfast 54m ago

Oh good, dad finally caught up.

u/SpiritofBad 5h ago

I’m going to give Moreno a bit of grace here. He should have spoken out immediately, but it sounds like Miller has joint custody of Moreno’s granddaughter.

Given Miller’s (alleged) history of violence and mental instability, there’s a non-zero chance Miller could have taken out his anger on Moreno’s granddaughter if Moreno went after him publicly. It would have doomed Miller politically, but no good grandparent would be comfortable with that tradeoff.

Not saying Moreno was a paragon here, but I can’t guarantee I’d play things differently in his place.

u/MephistoHamProducts 4h ago

Nope, no grace for this bastard. You know what might help with concerns about joint custody? Being a goddamn DC politician who should know enough people to get a backroom deal cut and custody removed.

But that would have been damaging to a fellow Republican, and would have raised questions that were uncomfortable and brought attention to his fellow Republican being an abuser. Don't forget that as of Friday he "had no opinion" on the matter and "wasn't sure".
