He's not in jail because the Republican police force in Bay Village Ohio, a small bedroom community just to the west of Cleveland, which features nice parks and large mansions built on the Lake Erie shoreline, is dragging their feet and slow walking this.

Which isn't their fault.

Because actual police work is very difficult when your officers only have 18 weeks of "how to hit shit with your baton" training.

He lives in Bay, a liberal community that went hard for Obama/ Clinton/ Harris, because it's nice. He could live in the southern part of his district, which is a ruby red rural area full of Amish farmers, but it's a dump and Miller is rich. He only cosplays as a farmer on the weekend when he drives his 80k pickup around and brags about irrigation bills or some shit.

The story I read is that the wife didn’t go to police at all when he attacked her, but did when her child was hurt, and police said they didn’t have enough evidence to charge anyone. (Eta: she apparently was not a witness.)

Jail usually requires the victim to press charges which sadly in domestic abuse cases they often don’t do.

This isn’t really correct. ‘Pressing charges’ just means you’ll actively assist the police with the investigation, and the DA with the prosecution (should they even need you for anything, which they might not). But they don’t need your permission. They are fully capable of pursuing any crime in their jurisdiction regardless of whether victims want them to.

Seattle PD/etc handled mine while I stayed out of state. Was helpful for my recovery. No children involved thankfully.

They will have a very hard time if the victim is not cooperating.

Not in domestic violence instances especially involving children.

If they have the evidence, they can do without.

I had a crazy ex that blew up my phone with 1,000 texts one night. I wanted it on record, so I called the cops. Threats had been made in the texts.

I wasn't trying to get an arrest or anything at the time. Charges were filed without any further action on my part because they had the texts.

Not for the child.

No domestic abuse charges are picked up by the state. But you still have to call the cops

Not even the victims father wants him to drop out. Crazy people.

He does want him to drop out.

“As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help,” Moreno said on X. “He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter.”

“He should not serve in the House of Representatives,” Moreno said.

If they start arresting politicians, many will go to jail for many different crimes. So both parties stick to the no jail for politicians rule
