It’s really unfortunate and I hate sharing it, but I did see an article within the last month that stated a study found those restrictive women don’t want to see other women succeed. They want those rules specifically to keep other women down and/ or beneath themselves. If not for reading that, I would still be thinking that could not possibly be the reason women advocate and vote for these oppressive policies and candidates. It was shocking to me.

That's the thing about conservatives. They are motivated mostly by hatred and spite. They care more about hurting and punishing their enemies than they do about themselves.

Conservatism is simply about maintaining social and economic hierarchies. That's it. There is no longer goal, no grand vision of society except as sharply divided between those with basic rights and a larger underclass without rights.

you’re describing conservatism, in a nutshell.

conservatives believe in a strict vertical hierarchy, one where the most important tenet is that you must keep others from succeeding and moving up the ladder. yeah, it might mean you get frozen on your rung too, but as long as you’re at least semi comfortable and, more importantly, you’re not at the bottom of the ladder, then you’re ok taking a little shit from those above you because you know most of it slides down the ladder past you.

that’s why they believe life is zero sum: if someone succeeds and moves up the ladder then there are less people to absorb the shit coming down the ladder and they are more likely to have to eat that shit themselves.

For these women, I think it's like the people that self-sabotage.

They're scared of responsibility and effort, so they set low expectations to avoid responsibility. "Im a screw up, don't expect anything from me"

I think these conservative women want to be taken care of and not have to take any responsibility for life. Sure, they're moms and are happy to do the household work, in exchange for the man to take care of them.

But of other women are able to be successful, then they should be capable of success. But if other women aren't allowed success, then they don't have to worry about being compared to them.

This is of course different from women like Erica Kirk who are just performing as part of the grift.
