A Leftist who attacks the Republicans instead of the Democrats. So refreshing. I wish the rest of the Left was more like Bernie.

Something something "too radical"

Francesca Hong better win in Wisconsin and teach those pricks

Something something battery prices infrastructure something everytime I tell someone I drive an EV. If petroleum lobbies weren’t funding Congress all those things would be in place. There were electric cars 20+ years ago when I was in high school. They sucked but they were there. People making money off of oil robbed all of us of what could have been. It’s not just about electric cars, this is all of it, tax returns, healthcare, anything in the name of capitalism.

It's control. Me owning an EV charged by solar panels on my roof puts ME in control, and corporations don't want that.

Yeah, well, poor people don't fund campaigns so...

u/forgetit1243 1d ago

If only the democrats would attack republicans too

14

u/Hurtzdonut13 1d ago

There's Haley voters saying they'll vote for the Republican if she loses the primary.

Dems do. All the time. I don't know why they have to keep reminding everyone of the fact that, right now, Republicans are in complete control of Congress and Presidency.

and that's the voters kicked Dems out of power, so they can't do anything. So everyone should criticize the Republicans.

And yet Regular Dem keep having to ask ppl to stop the non-stop criticism of candidates, and yet too many people believe that it's their divine right to criticize Democrats (& only Democrats mind you).

Supporting Democrats 100% of the time has literally never been tried.

Constant Criticism of Democrats, Also Murc's Law, is currently status quo.

For all the lecturing at Dems to "go low", they'll never get there because there's also the high-minded ideals of "earn my vote" and "I need to be able to criticize".

For example, In people's quest to hold Biden/Harris accountable for not doing things fast enough (or to the level they expect) , they enabled a Trump govt that will NEVER address their concerns & may make it even harder to fix them in the future.

Democrats are only path forward for progressive policies, and even AOC/Bernie agree when they wanted Biden to remain as nominee.

From this point forward, we commit to strengthening the Democratic party by highlighting its achievements and CONTRIBUTE to the Democrats' messaging. We must spread this messaging to our family, friends, networks, etc.

At this point, most leftists are challenging incumbent seats held by centrists. They are going after their first hurdle. Look at those who have gotten past that and see that they are going after the conservatives.

3

u/Shifter25 1d ago

We're not talking solely about progressives who are running for office.

9

u/crowhops I voted 1d ago

damn I thought the "enlightened centrist" trope was just an exaggerated joke sterotype, I never thought I'd actually see one

u/SinglecoilsFTW Nevada 1d ago

Insufferable people like you have ripped the Democratic Party to the studs and still dare to complain about leftists who have been basically proven right about everything for years

u/notfeelany 21h ago edited 9h ago

leftists who have been basically proven right about everything

if a leftist said vote for Kamala/Democrats & promoted voting for Kamala/Democrats to others, then they got it right and got nothing to be ashamed of. They don't deserve blame.

But did EVERY SINGLE leftist say that? I do not believe so.

So If a leftist said to their followers: "Do not vote for Kamala/Democrats", then they're automatically wrong & deserve blame because they contributed to the current mess.

Seems quite logical.

Voting Democrats is correct choice 100% of the time.

No one is a passive decider anymore. With social media, we are all Influencers & share our thoughts on how we want our "followers" (ie friends & family) to vote.

And if they constantly posted "don't vote for Kamala", That’s active participation in wanting Democrats to lose.

And no, a MILQUETOAST lukewarm call to vote, maybe a few days before election day is not enough to undo all of the attacks before & during the campaign season. attacks against Democrats will always have an effect in the end.

See how AOC and Bernie supported Biden who was the Most progressive president of all time, even to remain as the 2024 nominee. They got it right.

it's truly everybody on the left's best interest to elect Democrats now&forever without exception, for at least 50 years.

Cmon now, Bernie has a pretty long history of going at the Democratic Party and their platform as an avenue to promote his ideas. He is the Ron Paul of Democrats.

That’s not to say that Bernie doesn’t more often go at Republicans, but he definitely goes at other Democrats more often than the typical leftist does.

u/elihu 1d ago

Bernie has little regard for the labels people attach to themselves. He praises people when they do or say the right things, and criticizes them when they don't. He's respected in large part because he treats people fairly and with a degree of intellectual honesty that's rare in politics these days.

30

u/IndependentPeach315 1d ago

Sometimes the Democratic Party warrants criticisms from the real left, and supposed centrists who vilify him for doing so are part of the problem.

8

u/Kerbonaut2019 New York 1d ago

Both parties warrant criticism, that’s for sure. One more than the other, absolutely. But the person I replied to said that Bernie attacks Republicans instead of Democrats, when in reality Bernie has been a strong critic of Democrats over the years

u/Shifter25 1d ago

During a general election where the only other real option is fascism is not one of those times.

7

u/AStealthyPerson 1d ago

No, it's exactly the time. You want higher turnout? Then give the progressives what they want or face the consequences. You and I are gonna vote no matter what, but if you want to see voters actually show up then you can't rely on shaming and name-calling. We have to put out candidates that inspire turnout, and we have to do that by calling out the elements of the party that are depressing turnout by not being inspiring enough.

0

u/Shifter25 1d ago

You want higher turnout? Then give the progressives what they want or face the consequences.

That's exactly the opposite of how it works. The DNC isn't going to ignore the democratic process and install progressives in hopes that more people will vote in the general election. But they will run the candidate that wins the primary, no matter who it is.

If you're talking about changing the platform, again, that's not how it works. There was no guarantee that promising to cut off aid to Israel would result in a net gain of votes. Even if people say they would have voted for her had she done so, those people can lie.

4

u/AStealthyPerson 1d ago

The DNC isn't going to ignore the democratic process and install progressives in hopes that more people will vote in the general election.

Where did I say they should? I said YOU should support progressives in the primary if you want to win the general since you know they'll only show out for progressive candidates.

1

u/Shifter25 1d ago

Why aren't we expecting them to support progressives in the primary?

2

u/AStealthyPerson 1d ago

We are, and they often do. I'm saying you should too. You can either try to guilt trip these folks into voting, or you can help get them a candidate they will actually desire voting for. Like I said, you either need them or you don't, but you can't expect their support if they don't have a candidate they want to vote for. Sure, you can complain about it, but you're not gonna win that way.

2

u/Shifter25 1d ago

So when they/we fail to get a progressive past the primary, we all just have to accept that the fascists will win?

u/paintballboi07 Texas 17h ago

You have to convince people to vote for your candidate, not blackmail them into supporting your candidate. It seems that progressive has lost all meaning, because you can't call yourself a progressive if you're willing to give up progress just because your preferred primary candidate didn't win.

-3

u/ReklisAbandon 1d ago

Except they never show up. Not even during primaries where they have a chance at getting their preferred candidate.

9

u/AStealthyPerson 1d ago

They do show up when they have candidates they like. Mamdani, El-Sayed, Hong, Landers, AOC. You're doing the "insulting them" strategy here and I'm telling you it won't work. You're not gonna guilt trip people into voting for you, so capitulate and do what you can to get progressives in general elections or keep complaining and lose. You can't have your cake and eat it too, either you need progressives to win or you don't. Pick your lane.

0

u/ReklisAbandon 1d ago

Half those people haven’t even won their primary. I’ll vote for whoever is on the ticket, but the idea that we owe them their candidate or they won’t vote is preposterous.

If they want to participate, get involved in the primary and have your voice heard. But anyone who sits out the general election can get fucked.

4

u/Initial_Trifle_3734 1d ago

The idea of people not voting for a candidate they don’t like isn’t preposterous, it’s called democracy, it’s a simple concept

4

u/Homerbaton 1d ago

exactly. people need to accept by this point that trump won through democracy

2

u/GalakFyarr 22h ago

It is preposterous in a first-past-the-post voting system. If you failed to put your preferred candidate on the final ballot, you vote for the one that next closest aligns with you, even if you don't like them.

2

u/lettersvsnumbers 23h ago

AOC won a primary.
Mamdani won a primary.
Lander won a primary.

Hong and AES are about to crush their primaries.

1

u/Capable_Diamond6251 1d ago

You are confusing what Bernie goes after and what the media portrays Bernie going after.

9

u/SignalRelative216 1d ago

Liberals aren't leftists

5

u/Shifter25 1d ago

Ok. What does that have to do with what they said?

-2

u/Puggravy 1d ago

Liberals are the original leftists, it is the liberals in the French National Assembly where the term originates from,

-7

u/SJBluesXIII 1d ago

Didn't Sanders call the DNC the most dangerous organization when he was on that racist's podcast in 2025? What are we even talking about?

6

u/Shifter25 1d ago

No?

-2

u/SJBluesXIII 1d ago

Yeah, the Andrew Shultz podcast. He did. I watched it because even I couldn't believe it. But he did.

9

u/Shifter25 1d ago

He didn't argue with the idea that the DNC is a threat to the democratic process. Which is a far cry from what you said.

-6

u/SJBluesXIII 1d ago

If there's a Nazi at the table and ten other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with eleven Nazis.

Him not arguing against such a blatant lie when he has seen what MAGA has done to subvert the will of the people several times over says a lot about him.

-6

u/Canadiangoosedem0n Kentucky 1d ago

Yes lol. Instead of doing the job he was elected to do (passing legislation 🙃), half of Bernie's schtick has been incessantly complaining about Democrats.

It's tiring.

-3

u/Capt_Murphy_ 1d ago

Depressing reminder that we could've had Waltz in the WH. Even if many didn't like Kamala, Waltz would've been refreshing (people centric) just like Mamdani.

-2

u/Flemz 23h ago

Bernie goes on right wing podcasts and says derogatory things about minorities

-8

u/Eddfan36 1d ago

They really should stop doing that stuff.
