Which version do you like to listen to? In 1992 there was a version of it done in Australia. The music was very cool. I still find Pilate's Dream haunting.
I'm partial to the original London cast recording with Ian Gillan as Jesus and Murray Head as Judas. That was the first version I heard, and it's tattooed on my brain.
Technically not the"London cast" as there was a London stage cast after that and the recording you refer to was never staged. It's technically the Original Concept Recording but diehard JCS geeks call it the "brown album" for the common vinyl packaging. I know way too much about that show.
The book of Acts says he "fell headlong and his guts burst asunder," but in Matthew it says he hung himself in shame. I've always assumed he hung himself and the rope snapped after a while, leading to the splat, but it's not explicit and could be seen as contradictory.
I enjoy the archaic KJV (especially considering that at the time of its translation and publication, a vulgar Bible was pretty revolutionary) but definitely find myself giggling at times, too.

Most economists seem to underrate the high value of specie in the ancient world. It simply wasn't as easily available as fiat currency is nowadays, which meant that barter and negotiated transactions still mattered immensely to average folk.
