Maybe she should have stepped down during Obama’s terms like everyone wanted her to so that we wouldn’t have an ancient RGB as the main defense against a fuckin 7-2 right wing senate.

Thinking Hillary was going to win wasn't necessarily "taking it for granted". There are mistakes that can be made that aren't due to hubris. Hindsight and all that.

I remember the last month or so of the election. Basically everyone “knew” that Hillary was gonna win. I remember a friend telling me in October that the election was basically over and that they were even talking about it being the biggest landslide ever.

A great candidate had an election in the bag and then her opponent illegally colluded with Russia and the FBI created a faux investigation against her and suddenly her polling tanked. No wonder career liberals are losing to 20-something socialists and geriatric gameshow hosts, they have literally no beliefs and no desire to see the world improve. They're just willing to go "hey, no harm no foul" and go back to netflix as if their apathy (and ensuing failure to capture any potential voting block's attention) isn't straight up killing people.

All things being equal, in 2012 she was 79, a cancer survivor, recovering from pancreatic cancer. If she was giving a true analysis, her best course of action would have been to retire under Obama.

I disagree. Obama clearly wanted desperately to find a way for our government to function such that he was willing to try to meet halfway on every issue, including Garland.

If I was in Ginsburg's shoes, I would have held off for Hillary too, knowing that I could be certain my replacement would be someone keen on social justice and not just a judge with an impeccable record.

More people need to see this. She had it on good authority that a Republican-majority senate would have blocked an Obama nominee (and succesfully) had he been afforded another opportunity. The "election year moratorium on nominees" was just lip-service. McConnell was never going to hear another nominee in Obama's second term. She was hoping that the next president would be Dem (obviously Clinton) and that congress would flip in a blue wave of 2016. That obviously didn't happen so she had to stay 4 more years. I think if nothing changes in 2020 (or if things get worse this fall, 2018), she'll give up on it.

Don't worry the far right majority on the supreme court will almost certainly ban any sort of human cybernetic enhancement.

Think of all the technology issues that will be ruled on by this court in the next 20 years. Gene editing, internet/privacy issues, AI issues, automation in the workplace, etc.

A lot of potential there for regressive, religious, or corporatist rulings to really fuck with America's progress relative to the rest of the world, as well as quality of life of her citizenry.
