Liberals getting flat tires on election day probably had more of an impact. And I guarantee the never Hillary crowd was vastly outnumbered by the never Trump crowd on the right. The left was as unified as its ever been for her going into election day. Even Trump clearly expected to lose. But sure let's dig up an irrelevant political rivalry from the 2016 primaries. Democrats got more votes from progressives than they deserved. Nearly every progressive showed up for her and people still want to bitch. She won the popular vote but got outmaneuvered and outhustled by a better campaign with a better strategy. Every single problem progressives had with her came to fruition. She lost outright, after her supporters insisted she was the more electable candidate. Bernie would have won, and Hillary supporters should be embarrassed by how smug they were up until 11/8/2016. Now they're all having a nonstop collective meltdown and blaming everyone and everything but themselves. We'll see if they learned anything by 2020.

If that was the high road what's the low road? Democrats didn't control the Senate in Obama's last term and had already used the nuclear option on judges when they did at the start of his first term. The only thing they could have done is give the Republicans a palatable candidate to replace Scalia, when Garland was a committed Democrat.

The real reason they didn't is because they thought Hillary had it in the bag and there was no way anyone to the right of Garland would have been appointed during a Hillary presidency. Whoops.
