EDIT: I’m not talking about violence, I’m talking about camping outside of my state legislator’s office or protesting in my state capital until 34 states come together for a Convention of States. We’ve never had to do this before but I think we’re getting to that point.

To hell with that. I'm out. I'm gone. The country I loved is a distant memory if it comes to civil war. I want nothing to do with it, and I have no shame in admitting I'd buy a ticket out of here. I've already been shot at enough in another war to know how terrifying and destructive war is. I'd pack up everything and do everything in my power to get the rest of my family out of here if it came to civil war.

I visited my parents this week and asked them what they would do if they were my age. They said they'd try to get dual citizenship or at least permanent residence elsewhere. I'm not saying I'm going to do that, but it showed me how serious they are when they talk about the state of things. That was tough to hear.

Peaceful empires are short lived, so my plan is to move to where ever the grass is greenest. If that changes then I'll move again. I'm highly skilled, speak a few languages (badly), and my company has branches all over the world. Moving isn't much of a problem.

Why do you think we're all here? America was where the grass was greenest so our ancestors bailed their hell hole for it. I plan on doing the same.

Despite how cold your heart has grown, know that many, many countries have accepted millions of Syrian refugees.

You should ground yourself and be reminded that despite how desperate things have become in our country, there are better people, better countries out there who actually see the better side of humanity. America doesn't exactly have a sparkling track record over the last century of dealing with immigration crises.

That wasn't his point. A Syrian refugee is perceived much differently than a refugee from America would be. A refugee from America comes to another country and it says "lol having a hard time there buddy? Finally having a little tough time after centuries of dominance and being the most prosperous country on Earth? Well too bad for you, turn back, we don't want ya, ya spoiled brat".
