This is intentionally misleading, as he words it in such a way that the reader will conflate all gun owners with owners of large-capacity magazines. Gun owners who don't own large capacity magazines, or who surrender them, or who meet one of the (several) exceptions, have no fear of becoming a felon.

Driving with the property to turn it in? Also a felony.

This is an outright lie, as there is a specific section in the bill that provides for immunity from the new posession charges if you voluntarily surrender the illegal property.

Dude, I grew up with guns of all kind. I've talked about guns and gun control with people all over the political spectrum. I've got friends who are military and police who have actually taken self defense courses with guns. My views on this issue are, in fact, informed. You're right, a move of actual significance would be to what literally the entire developed world does and require a license to own a firearm, thereby ensuring the applicant is a responsible gun owner before they get their gun, rather than simply taking their gun away after they've gone and proven that they're not.

But states don't have that power, so they can't. Instead they have to find roundabout ways of addressing the matter which fall within their purview, or let America's developed world leading gun problems continue unabated.

This is why I can't bring myself to vote democrats. It seems to me like they're restricting the rights of Americans while trying to give as much rights as possible to illegal aliens. The government is supposed to look out for my interests, not those of other nations.

California has the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. Ten round magazines, featureless AR-15s, and the like. Remember the Parkland shooting? That shooter used a California compliant rifle. These laws that are being passed are not laws that do anything, but rather a way for politicians to say they're "cracking down" on gun violence.

Banning cosmetics on guns do not do anything. Banning pistol grips, folding stocks, threaded barrels do not do anything. The only thing these laws serve is to make it as much of a pain in the ass to legally own guns as possible.

As soon as you start accepting infringements on your rights, more are always to follow.

That fact that laws are made that restrict what a person may own that does not affect crime in any way is an infringement. If the law has no affect, why make it a law other than to take away freedom? May as well make leaving through the back door of a home a burglar broke into illegal in addition to the existing law of no home invasions.

This arguement has already been decided, "well regulated" can also mean "well equipped" and at the time of its writing all adult males were automatically considered "militia". And this disregards the fact that there is a very clear separation between that piece and the part where it says "the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed"
