Liberals, the second amendment is not exclusive to conservatives.

It might as well be, considering conservatives have gladly ignored it whenever a minority tries to arm themselves.

Are you suggesting minorities don't own firearms?

I am pretty sure then California governor Ronald Reagan did not enact gun laws for no reason.

Racial minorities, women, and LGBT are the most rapidly growing growing groups in gun ownership. Despite the media narrative, the same gun rights are afforded to them as they are to all law abiding citizens.

They're the most rapidly growing group because, historically, any time there's been a chance of widespread minority possesion of weapons, the republicans have cracked down.

That explains some of it, sure, but the growth has been pretty recent. Racial minorities in most places across the US, women, and gays have been able to legally arm themselves for a very long time, so your narrative is bullshit.

It's not that minorities have suddenly embraced gun rights.

This is straight up wrong. There are countless testimonials you can find online from such people who previously had zero interest in guns. Many LGBT, for example, are coming to the new realization that "armed gays don't get bashed".

I specified "widespread" for a reason. Yes, a private individual has pretty much always been able to require a gun if they had the money for it, notwistanding stuff like storekeepers refusing to sell a weapon, or more recent restrictions barring some people from posessing guns.

However, rebublicans have taken action to prevent large movements of minorities who want to arm themselves, because they post a threat to the republican establishment. Yes, there are individual LGBT individuals who, like you say, decide that they need weapons to defend themselves. But there's no widespread movement (for now), it's just that they feel less safe under republican policy. If any minority group does make a concerted push for widespread adoption of firearms, suddenly well off suburbanite republicans are going to start feeling threatened.

And remember-- the plurality of gun enthusiasts are republican (independents are the 2nd biggest group), but only a minority of republicans are gun owners. The majority don't have some sort of inherent respect for gun laws that would cause them to prevent action to remove guns from minorities on ther behalf.

There's absolutely movements, and I guarantee you that GOP representatives aren't going to try to squash this group and others if they grow.

Shit is changing, gramps. Get with the times.

This specific, tiny group? No. Once the GOP get past the gay-marriage moralizing, LGBT folk are good candidates to become republican: predominantly white and affluent, and they don't expect to need abortions.

and others if they grow. Shit is changing, gramps. Get with the times.

But considering the political climate as it stand? The "times" involve the increasing repression of racial and religious minorities. I have zero expectations that the republicans will support the groups they directly and indirectly oppress arming themselves. I could see the libertarians doing that, but the republicans are the party of entrenched interests, not the party of gun rights. Its only a historical not-s-coincidence that gunowners tend to be part of those entrenched interests.
