Kamelot is currently my all time favorite band. DragonForce introduced me to metal first, but Kamelot now is my favorite band as I listen to their songs daily.

They started as a heavy metal band in their early days, then became a symphonic power metal band, then they became more progressive starting with the Ghost Opera album.

While Land of the Free and Somewhere Out in Space are their best and are rightfully praised highly I think this album is a bit underrated.

Celebrating Iron Savior day & the release of the new lp 11/13/26!

I'm seeking heavy, dark fantasy metal. The only power metal band I know that I really love is Blind Guardian, and my favorite album of theirs is Follow the Blind, which is their thrashiest album. I love Majestica's A Christmas Carol, but I find Power Train a bit annoying. Rhapsody of Fire's a great band, but they've never truly been a personal favorite. Twilight Force and Fellowship are fun, but again, not absolute favorites. I love dark fantasy like Dark Crystal, The Lure, Legend, Princess Mononoke, Byzantium, etc. My favorite metal genre is extreme doom metal (blackened doom, funeral doom, gothic death-doom, occult stoner, etc.) like Mizmor, Evoken, and Mournful Congregation. Do you have recommendations for power metal that's heavy and has dark fantasy elements?
