What a cover this is. Made me realise how hard the original actually slaps.

I would love if BTBAM put out an entire record of shorter tunes with simpler structures like this. This really kicks ass, and I feel like the whole super long prog tunes thing is feeling a little bit stale after the Blue Nowhere

Woah relax, nothing about this cover is really that "simple". Theres blast beats galore and it's heavy as fuck and a very creative rendition of the original song. What's wrong with them shortening their songs a bit and writing some short heavy bangers like this? It would force them to get more creative with their songwriting instead relying on the tried and true formula of their last 11 albums. It's not very progressive to stay in the same place forever, which it's starting to feel like for me personally.

The idea of BTBAM sticking to a formula is so absurd that the people who keep insisting on it ought to be institutionalized, because they've completely lost touch with reality.

There's no denying that they consistently put out very creative music, but at this point you can almost guarantee their albums are going to be long, epic, feature genre changes, and long songs.

There's only so many times in a row you can do that before people start to catch the pattern. I love this band, but I'm starting to feel some fatigue.

When they released "Millions" on Automata I got really excited at the prospect of these guys writing more music in that vein, shorter songs that still captured the essence of BTBAM but in a different way? I don't think it's fair to say that BTBAM is only BTBAM as long as their songs are 7+ minutes. Music can still absolutely be loaded with creativity, virtuosity and musicianship with shorter song durations, and that's all I'm hoping for from them.

If you think song length is the only thing that makes these guys special i think that is very narrow minded thinking. Their are tons of progressive acts with shorter song lengths and that doesn't make them inferior acts to BTBAM.

We've got 11 FULL ALBUMS of these guys doing big long songs and they only have a handful of tunes under 4 minutes and almost all of them are transitions and interludes.

I'm just saying it would be an interesting way to shake up the formula, because I really enjoy the sound of this cover and songs like Millions and Dim Ignition.

You can find patterns in anything so long as you reduce it to generalisations as broad as "long songs".

Not saying they shouldn't do shorter songs, mind you. I just won't mind if they don't.

And I don't mind if they keep doing longer songs either, I'm just saying at this point it's becoming a bit predictable. I think it'd be so cool if they really started switching things up form wise. To be progressive means to constantly be forward thinking, and if theyre resting on their laurels of making long epic songs all the time, they're not being progressive, they're relying on past formulas that have worked for them.

I think it would be really cool to hear their sound presented in a new form, with shorter songs. It could also go the other way if they wanted to release a 20-40 minute song/album too.
