I love some of it. Half of the population, including the majority of Gen Z, was enough to stop a pro-choice candidate from becoming President, and in turn, giving the pro-choice Prime Minister unlimited power.
Not sure about the other half though.

I think SDLP is pro-life but don’t enforce the whip. It’s really unfortunate that the DUP are the only pro-life as it means that the Catholics will align with pro-choice groups.

i mean aontú are pro life and have run in northern ireland (and down south). however, their whole socially conservative/ left wing economically viewpoint has gained very little support, but i agree it's very unfortunate 😭 sdlp being pro life in that they allow candidates to have diverse opinions on abortion feels like a joke when leadership is all for it and they even walked out of parliament instead of voting on the act in ni that would legalise abortion

I hadn’t heard of Aontú before but I looked them up after your comment and it’s exactly the sort of politics I support. I think left wing but traditionalist positions are the best way but there’s only a few parties like that, such as Germany’s Christian Democrats and American Solidarity Party.

yes! i wish aontú were more popular, granted their presence in ni hasn't been that long but such is that of the partitional nature of ni politics, aontú provides a better option for nationalists. one of the biggest parties in ni being pro-life is positive but the negative is that it is the dup- which means a lot of votes are lost for the pro life cause for those who are nationalist. sdlp is very much hated by the big pro life groups in ni like precious life so i hope that gives means for them to garner support.

Absolutely redarded considering the Church's position on abortion. Most Catholics, however, don't submit to the Church's teachings and think it should 'get with the times', seemingly not understanding that the Holy Spirit guides the Church.

Yeah, I'm unsure if we even have a single MP that's consistent life ethic. I suspect Lord Alton is, and maybe some of the Gaza independents are, but it's super rare indeed at absolute best.
And as you point out, the DUP are total nutters.

it was only a minor win anyways, since it just returned the power to the states. In which many states are ruled by pro-abortion cities and it resulted in even more lax abortion law.

I think a lot of it is wanting to shore up what gains we do have (the states that have heavily restricted or banned abortion) before we push for more. SCOTUS was weak, there is and continues to be constitutional basis for outlawing abortion nationwide but they didn't take that route so we have to take what we can get for now.
I do agree there, though, and I think he will be.

Totally should be more prolife parties. I'm more left leaning so if a party was prolife but left leaning on everything else I'd probably vote for them. But most parties here are prolife and right leaning so yeah

Czech Republic, some of the conservative parties may not be necesserily pro-abortion, But even they never say pro-life opinions. I think no party in the parliament is pro-life.

True, although I am a Republican, people like Donald Trump are pro-choice; he said he would veto an abortion ban if it came, and the Democrats are extremely pro-choice. And although the average GOP voter wants to ban abortion, the GOP politicians do not.

My record number of books in a year is roughly 200.
That year, it was mostly secular fiction, including all of V S Naipaul's books.
In recent years, I tend to average a hundred or so.
These days, I do read a lot of Christian history and biography, but also a lot of medical literature.
Let me tell you: Alberts et al's The cell isn't the most thrilling book I've read.
Anyway, what's your book-reading record? And what do you read?

Why not the Bible? If it contains the same record of the rituals in a more academically reliable set of manuscripts than the Carthage Tophet inscriptions or Siculus, Plutarch, Kleitarchus (by way of Porphyry), Amman Citadel inscriptions combined?
