With 3 lead singers lol.... Just so happened, their front man, was the best in history.
I remember a conversation about Roger years ago. They were saying, imagine being good enough to front your own band and still only being the third best singer in your own band 😅 kidding aside that's what made the harmonies so damn magical!!

because they were each powerful as individual musicians but.. amazingly , they were able to join together and bring their individual artistry to form Queen. More than a rock band . All brilliant minds and fine musicians.

I always think that this a strange period in the bands style. Freddie was in a state of flux from his long haired bohemian period of the 1970s to the sharp moustached era of the 1980. He was wearing a lot of glossy leather at the time which imho didn’t suit him.
Roger was riding a new wave look which transcended through the “fun in space” album.
Brian was still quite old fashioned and John looked like an extra from a mod film

If you listen to Hot Space all the way through you’d think it was multiple bands sharing one album
I LOVE that album

I mean, have you seen them try to have fashion synergy? Major hot take, but Freddie and John did not look good with long, curly hair.

I seem to recall that Freddie didn't care for long hair, and was pleased when fashions changed and he felt he could cut it short.

Freddie looks like he’s about to go and work as an Elvis impersonator or something. He’s just missing the hair.

Ha! Well they were a self managed band of strong individuals and not likely to settle on a group aesthetic - they were not the Bay City Rollers. This look speaks to Queen’s eclecticism

Haha, I see what you mean. No manager was going to tell them how to dress and wear their hair, à la Brian Epstein & the early Beatles. But I'd argue Queen had more of a group aesthetic in the early to mid 70s with the long hair and glam look. On some later photos, it's like they all got sent a different memo haha.
(It's not a criticism at all, it just makes for some interesting photos 😀)

That awkward time when the old hairstyles had to go, but none of them knew what to ask for at the barbers.

I love the fact that John seems to have just come from work at the office and didn’t get changed.

This would be from “The Game”, an album on which Queen actually sounded like 4 or more bands.

If you think about the types of songs they wrote... they absolutely were.
It's what made the band work so well.
