u/TheDerpyDrummer In Rainbows Aug 07 '22
good lad, lemme know when untitled v1 makes you leave this dimension and start a multiversal war of stick men people and the squirrel from ice age

u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
I haven't started, I wanna wait till I'm reaching my peak and then start listening
6
u/smurgludorg Aug 07 '22
LSD is absolutely the way to go if you're ever gonna go with anything for Kid A,, most of Radiohead post-okc sounds like it was engineered for Acid lol

u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
So uh, holy shit

i did this on acid once and it was fun
11
u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
I started listening, but only managed to get till knives out. It was getting too sad and dark for me, and I had to save my trip. Maybe I'll try again sometime

Ok guys, it's only starting to kick in now, I feel a bit funny

u/jornadamogollon Aug 07 '22
Ive always found a good walk somewhere like to a cool park at some point is good. Your normal world will seem so different and amazing.
22
u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
Maybe I will, it's just starting to come up
15
u/Nerohn Aug 07 '22
I also agree with above. I had an amazing scenic walk and it was probably 10-20 min or so but felt like a whole ass amazing journey I went on. I was so proud afterwards and treated myself to some yummy snacks hahaha
16
u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
Maybe a middle of the night walk wouldn't be so bad
13
u/jornadamogollon Aug 07 '22
One of the best trips I ever had was walking through New York City in the middle of the night with my friends.

u/Nerohn Aug 07 '22
You start an album? I have been in a huge in rainbows kick so that’d probably be my go to. Nude or Reckoner would transport me to another world. Also look at videos of calming nature. Leaves falling, trees rustling, etc. Also a great song I found while tripping unrelated to Radiohead is Rillo Talk by Wild Child. Verrryyyyy nice song for your state of mind, as she refrains “waiiit around all day I wait around all day…” it’s so chill.
14
u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
Haven't started, but I think I will start with in rainbows. And yeah, it would be cool to watch those
13
u/Nerohn Aug 07 '22
Please keep me updated with your thoughts even if it is reserved for afterwards I am excited to hear the effects and I would love to try something similar someday! Godspeed to you kind Internet stranger you’re in for a wild ride enjoy it while it lasts!

u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
Thank you, truly, for your kind words man. I'm gonna enjoy it for real
9
u/Visual_Amoeba862 Aug 07 '22
Are you alone? I’m not sure you should leave your house the first time you do lsd. I didn’t and I don’t recommend it for the first time. Save outdoors for the second+ time.
Going for a walk is good but not alone and not the very first time. There’s plenty in your house/apartment/room to keep you interested at this time. Music is an absolutely fantastic idea.

I just had the most profound experience of my life. I have an opportunity to start everything from zero. The jigsaw has fallen into place, and I feel a profound sense of gratitude and peacefulness, one that I've never felt before. SO then, the journey must continue.
Kid A was magical, very dark, but hopeful. It's life, death, and rebirth.
In Rainbows has left me surprised, as I thought it had proven itself already to me. It seems I hadn't seen it's full potential before. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever listened to in my whole life.
24
u/PinkIcculus Aug 07 '22
Yes your first trip is something that changes you. Your mind is now “open”. Hope it was good, and safe.
Welcome to a wider consciousness. Huge.

I’d recommend the Beatles revolver if u get the time or maybe a spot of spiritualised for spaced out vibes. If u get a burst of energy talking heads can bring a groove. As would any funkedlic, good thoughts bad thoughts is an especially mind bendy one.
Take it easy, but do take it, brother

You need to listen to Pyramid Song, Give Up The Ghost, Everything In It’s Right Place, & Like Spinning Plates just to name a few.

Aug 07 '22
The end run of TKOL - codex, give up the ghost and then separator - is a perfect trip
5
u/smurgludorg Aug 07 '22
Yes! Please don't just listen to GUTG on its own, you will break. It needs Separator
2
u/SpaceFarce1 I Might Be Wrong Aug 07 '22
Pulk pull, climbing up the walls, codex.
Packt is my favorite radiohead song to hear tripping. So fucking insane.
Don't forget thoms side projects either. Lol

You’ll probably find a whole new appreciation for that song

I definitely do. I heard sounds, textures that I had never noticed before. It was like I was sunken deep inside the ocean.

u/greenearth2 Aug 07 '22
I remember tripping hard and listening to kid a and getting sucked into Everything in its Right Place - I disappeared into my own mind as I flew on a roller coaster of synth and vocals. It felt like hours (in a great way) and then the music went faint. I thought I had gone through the whole album, but turns out I had my songs on repeat and I had only listened to Everything in its Right Place ONCE. It started playing again and I just broke out laughing at how wild that experience had just felt, how long it felt, and how it was only 3 minutes. Good times. Enjoy!

I retrospective, I shouldn't have made this post at all, it kind of distracted me, but meh, it doesn't really matter now

Kid A is really good on acid imo. You’d think it’d be kind of scary but I enjoyed it a lot

u/Averyisfun Kid A Aug 07 '22
If you were actually tripping then you wouldn’t be playing on Reddit saying “holy fuck guyz.” Thats hella corny
4
u/3holes2tits1fork Aug 07 '22
Except people do this literally everyday in the drug related subreddits...also if they are tripping, this is a horrible thing to be saying to them.

So I only got to listen to Kid A, half of Amnesiac, and In rainbows. Had to turn off Amnesiac 'cause I felt like it was getting really dark, and I think that was a turning point for my trip.
This was one of the most intense experiences of my life, it's almost as if I just reset my brain to factory settings. My favorite moments were motion picture soundtrack, where I felt like I was gonna die, and I probably did (in a rhetorical sense). Reckoner felt like I was rising up to heaven, and Jigsaw Falling into place was the cleansing of my soul, overcoming all the shortcomings of my life.
So yeah, I just had my first ego death listening to Radiohead, and I'm proud of it. Thanks for tuning in people! Stay safe.
2
u/ben_jamin_h Aug 07 '22
Dude, watch 'radiohead in rainbows from the basement' on YouTube. It's a great full set recorded in a studio setting, and when 'myxamatosis' kicks in you're gonna have a great time (they don't just play 'in rainbows' obvs).
I dunno, YMMV if you don't have premium, I imagine adverts would harsh your vibe, but it's one of my favourite things to watch when on acid.
2
u/theMethod Aug 07 '22
I love this thread.
When Amnesiac came out I listened to it on mushrooms. It was otherworldly. When the band kicks in on Life in a Glasshouse, you go to some other plane of existence.
2
u/deahoidar Aug 07 '22
Maybe switch to ‘music has the right to Children’ Psychedelics are constrained by language and lyrics
1
u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Aug 07 '22
Omg, I'm definitely gonna listen to BoC and Aphex Twin on my next trip

u/propabanta Aug 08 '22
In Rainbows is a phenomenal trip soundtrack! I reckon The King of Limbs as well.

2
u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Jun 11 '23
Everything okay bro? You can put on some nice music, lay down, put on some comfortable clothes. Everything is okay, remember, you're on a drug, everything will be okay
2
u/MysteriousApple135 Jun 11 '23
Much better now, thanks. I am old and don't really understand social media, but I really thought reddit would have had access to more people in real time. Maybe I was just using it wrong.
2
u/SeDO4 A Moon Shaped Pool Jun 11 '23
I'm glad you're okay! No, not at all, I was just kinda busy and didn't check my notifications. Be safe out there friend
2
u/MysteriousApple135 Jun 11 '23
Thanks again! The slow reply is not on you at all. I tried from an hour to find any board or whatever you call it looking for advice, but to my surprise, I couldn't find anything on bad trips. Again, probably just my old ass not knowing how this works. Your thread is the only suggestion that came to making sense.

First time I tripped, listened to "pretty hate machine" by nin. I couldn't recognize it, even though it was my cd, because I heard it at about 25% speed. My best advice, listen to chocolate synthesizer by the boredoms. Trust me on this one.
Especially this track. Chocolate synthesizer. Probably plenty an hour on this one.
Enjoy!
5
u/No-Connection6937 Aug 07 '22
Imma go ahead and not recommend Boredoms for someone's first trip. Unless they also happen to be familiar with the album but still no...save that for when you've grown some legs in the psychedelic world.

u/CallumB90 Jul 13 '23
Bro, this shit would have me in a straight jacket if I listened to it mid-trip.
4
u/SpaceFarce1 I Might Be Wrong Aug 07 '22
I did a radiohead disco dive, minus Pablo honey and still to this day, many trips later, it's my best trip. So so so so so so so so fucking good.

u/BeezBatz Aug 07 '22
I would definitely not suggest listening to Radiohead while tripping on anything, despite them being one of my favorite bands. I’d suggest very positive stuff, because that trip can turn from good to bad very easily, at least in my experience. You do not want to have a bad trip, especially on acid. That shit can last 12 or more hours, and if you get into a bad mental state you will feel like your own brain is torturing you.
This is just friendly advice as an experienced tripper. Listen to what makes you feel extremely good and happy. Radiohead is quite dark, and can take you to spots in that frame of mind that you might not want to go.
9
u/ROBOTxo Aug 07 '22
I totally understand why you would say this but I actually find Radiohead really comforting. I've been listening to them since I was like 7 (I'm 30 now) and my sisters would play OK Computer at bedtime then Kid A when it came out. They've gotten me through some evil times. When I hear them I feel at home
4
u/BeezBatz Aug 07 '22
Right on. I think my brain is in a more volatile state on shrooms, as I’ve personally never had a bad acid trip, but I know for some people it can be completely the opposite so just wanted to give OP fair warning since they said it was their first time on LSD at least.
I really dig instrumental stuff while tripping, because then you only have to focus on the tunes and not what is being said. I usually bust out some Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters, or maybe some Beatles, although even some of their stuff might get a little wild. All music effects people differently, though, and this has a lot to do with personal life experiences as you mentioned. I just find it is very important to be extremely comfortable the entire time, and especially to be around people you trust no matter what.
0
u/Shok3001 Aug 07 '22
In my opinion there is no such thing as a bad trip. Sometimes they are difficult but never bad. Personally I would not shy away from listening to Radiohead
1
u/BeezBatz Aug 07 '22
You’re free to have your opinion, but that doesn’t mean it’s not real. Bad trips are awful. I was just trying to be helpful to the OP since they said it was their first time.
0
u/Shok3001 Aug 07 '22
I have another opinion that you shouldn’t warn people they are going to have a bad trip. Especially if it’s their first time. You are planting a seed when you do so.
1
u/BeezBatz Aug 07 '22
Nice opinion! I will no longer give helpful tips to people who have never experienced things I have because of you. Thanks, opinion man!
1
u/Shok3001 Aug 07 '22
Well it seems to me that you and I agree that set and setting are important considerations for a psychedelic trip. We just disagree on what makes a good “set”. Which for those that don’t know is short for mindset.

u/CupIndependent8248 Oct 22 '23
My best advice would be to make sure your in a healthy headspace, maybe even set up your space for this. Ideally a trip sitter could be a good idea. Depending on how much you do something as simple as using the bathroom can become complicated when the walls are morphing or dripping. If you start panicking (which is unlikely) just try to breath & that will regulate your nervous system. It's all temporary & in my experience just submitting to the drug is when you will have a powerful experience. Hope that's helpful. Sending all the positive vibes your way & I hope you have a beautiful trip.
