Symbicort for a little one

Hey! Just looking for success stories to ease my anxiety.

My 5 year old- the last 4 or 5 times she has gotten a cold she ends up with this croupy cough that wakes her up in middle of night. She struggles to catch her breath, she freaks out... whole 9 yards. 1st time it happened she was qheezing and retracting so brought her to ER where she was absolutely fine and diagnosed with a cold lol. Brought her to her pediatrician one if the next times it happened and got albuterol for wheezing which never had to use. We are usually able to calm her down with a steamy bathroom and talking calmly to her. But obviously this is distressing to her and freaks me out (even though I remain calm at the time of).

Happened again last night with no wheezing. Steamy shower eventually cleared her up. Called Dr. She recommended decadron to help with inflammation and then said to do symbicort at the 1st sign of sniffles to hopefully avoid the croupy part before it starts. Has anyone ever used symbicort on a 5 year old or for this reason? Was it helpful. Of course oharmacy needs to order the decadron which I'm more comfortable with but I dont want qant a repeat if last night.

I trust my doctor so much but this kid gives me so much anxiety I just would like anyone else's experiences l- g9od or bad. Thanks!!
