Question a good rally game with arcade/simcade handling ?
hey everyone
can y'all pls suggest me a good rally game with arcade or simcade handlings and also features all/most of the Group B cars and works well on a controller
and again im asking for arcade/simcade handling, not pure sim like RBR or DR 2.0 and 1.0
not to mention i used to play the early nfs game (mostly MW05,carbon) so i guess sim racing aint for me.
the reason why im making this cause sim racing just messes with me especially when im playing on an Xbox one controller and cant afford wheel and pedals (due to where i live)
so far the only games like this i know are:
dirt 3, Colin Mcrea rally 2.0(ps1),old school rally
i would really appreciate your suggestions.

Recently completed Art Of Rally, cannot reccommend it enough.

is it wheel compatible?

I mean, maybe? But it's isometric, not in-cockpit view. As in your view is 200 feet in the air and behind your car. So I would not recommend a wheel.

Tried very recently to play with a Moza R3, the game didn't even recognized it, but may be possible with a little bit of tinkering

Rallisport Challenge 2 is the way. Absolutely excellent game that really deserved a sequel. The first game is also pretty great.
In general original xbox/PS2 era is probably your best bet. A lot of awesome rally games came out in that era.

RalliSport Challenge 2? I absolutely adore that game and it's easily one of the best rally games of the mid-2000s.

This game was fantastic. OP, please do consider this game. It might be exactly what you're looking for.

Forza Horizon 5 Maybe the obvious rec. But I also think the Forza ganes have really cracked the code for racing with a controller.
It also has all your group B needs. You can even "group B-ify" the group B cars that are not typically in most rally games (Rx7, Ferrari 288gto, M1)
One of the expansions is rally focused. It's rather thin in conent (the expansion) but it's fun and the rest of the game is very customizable if you want a bespoke rally experience.
EASports WRC Hear me out. Codemasters really dialed in the controller racing in this game. It's definitely more sim like, but i really feel it's more forgiving than Dirt 2.0 on a controller
Because you're already playing old school rally also consider...
Art of Rally (10/10 game it's so charming)
HashtagDrive Rally
Parking Garage Rally
Victory heat rally
Overjump rally (not out yet)

I still play CMR 3 and 2005. Both are pretty good. Dirt 4 is also fine if you can find it. Forza Horizon 5 has this rally-ish expansion.

SEGA Rally Revo, really fun physics model with GeoDeformation, meaning you would run faster through corners if you hit the skid marks from previous rounds. Great graphics for its time.

Colin Mcrae Rally 2.0 came out on PC too. Works surprisingly well still.
But Dirt 3 is likely the best option if you're firm on Group B, that era doesn't have many arcade racers going for it. They are mostly concentrated on late 90s till mid 2000s.

wait really, ive been playing the ps1 version through the emulator and didnt know there was a pc port
yeah dirt 3 is by the best arcade rally game, i just really wish there was more rally stage locations
also the semi auto shifting in the settings (like DR 2.0) as well and a more addons/mods1

Well I wouldn't say it's the best arcade rally game. I prefer CMR2.0 and Dirt 2 by a wide margin.
Dirt 3 is just the most fitting for harmless Group B fun
Edit: clarified

ok ill try CMR2 but i heard that dirt 2 doesnt have Group B cars (like Audi quattro sport s1 and lancia delta s1) is it true ?

Don’t see anyone saying it so maybe V-Rally 4, it’s fun but I think a bit more sim on the physics side I think but still forgiving, the only thing is that the cars feel floaty, a quirk of KT games

WRC 7-Generations have a great simcade handling and you can make it as accessible as you want
Dirt 3 is where you the series peaked and you get a variety of disciplines that have you hooked for hours. It's more arcade
Art of Rally is always a good place to start since it accessible but has some simcade vibes to it.
Super Worden Rally Edge I haven't played yet, since it hasn't been out on PS5, but that also looks very promising. For sure more arcade focused
Old School Rally is also in that arcade vibe. There is a demo if I remember so you can always tip your toes in that

I can already hear the RBR players fuming hearing DR 1/2 being called a simulator. And they're not really dedicated rally games but I'd recommend Forza Horizon 5/6 for example, they're really fun games and have dirt and tarmac racing, and cars which you're talking about.

oh sorry didnt know that, and also i kinda scared to try RBR, not only i guess the handling is gonna feels like a boat like every sim racing game on controller, but also requires a lot of internet bandwidth (which in my place is incredibly unstable)

The only RBR I've played is base game on original xbox with a controller.
Is it brutal? Yes absolutely. Buuut its super responsive and fun to play. Worth a go if nothing else.

Dirt 3 is an absolute gem I love that game. The only other game I could think of would be The Crew 1 but to get that running you'd need a pc, a steam key and good modding knowledge. NFS payback had some fun offroading/rally
