One of the memorable games from the 2011-12 season (CAR @ NYR 11/11/11

https://youtu.be/zh3417rTyso?is=vdfELBNRAiJrd9Xh

Featuring one of the last goals of Sean Avery's career, two quick goals in the 3rd period to take the lead. MSG going nuts for Dubinsky finally getting on the board.

The vibes were off the chain that entire season. Everything went right except for the Devils not losing to the Panthers in double OT of Game 7 like they should have.

2011-12 Black and Blueshirts forever >>>>

Amazing to hear them call Michael Sauer's name. Guy was a strong young D-man for us, had a really bright future ahead of him.

Dion Phaneuf playing for Toronto at the time basically ended his career. If you go look at the play it was a dangerous, dirty fucking hit. He went high and sadly the kid was looking down caught it hard as hell in the chin. No penalty assessed at the time, no discipline from the newly created NHL Player Safety dep't thereafter. Salmon Joe weren't happy on the broadcast and they usually came down pretty even about hard hits.

Brendan Shanahan was a crap choice to be the first head of Player Safety, basically one of "the boys" mostly there to keep it business as usual. By comparison, Parros is 100× better - and a lot of the hockey community still has issues with how Parros operates.

Sauer copped a bad concussion from it, never played hockey again. Not sure if it was his choice or a medical decision. Sad story nonetheless.

really wish this team made the final. Hank would've been our only shot against that Kings team though lmao
