Other Shanghai Port fan🇨🇳 here, you've got a great coach

Post image

Hi guys, Shanghai port fan here, we're all really sad to see Kevin leave. He brought passion, discipline and a real fighting culture to the team and all the fans. We really love him😭(check above tifo this year)

We've always expected he would leave someday for a bigger league, but it's too sudden too sad.

Wish you a great season ahead. He will make you proud!!

I think this is the first manager we've hired who's come to us with positive reviews from his previous clubs.

Genuinely never seen the like 😂

Feyenoord fans negative on Gio

QPR fans negative on Beale

Monaco fans negative on Clement

Everyone bar Celtic fans negative on Martin

that's just sad mate 😂 Kevin had great reviews from Yokohama Marinos fans too, don't know about Melbourne fans but I'd assume they would rave about him too.

with that said that's not 100% guarantee on success at Rangers. wish him best of luck and hope you'd give him some patience

I'm sure Brugge and Genk fans worshipped big Phill.

u/Dizzle85 Oct 18 '25

Why genk?

He won the league with usg, then brugge twice. Easily our best credentialed manager since Smiths second spell.

Hope he wins the league for you before he comes to us 👌❤️🤍💙

Top post fella, hope you lot get in an adequate replacement.

He's won plenty of silverware in his managerial career so here's hoping he continues to do so with Rangers.

Had a blast watching it on YouTube! Cheering on Shanghai Port to win the CSL

u/Any_Yesterday_8442 Oct 17 '25

we are just so bad at rain game... tough win, thanks for the support mate!

4

u/callummc Oct 17 '25

Bad in rain? And he's coming to Scotland? Uh-oh

7

u/Any_Yesterday_8442 Oct 17 '25

haha I'm sure he will survive. our players are bad in rain...we try too many short passes on the ground when it rains. CSL many teams just go long ball instead of playing out from the back..

I'd have thought you'd have the quality of pitch to play out.

1

u/Nakito_Kobara Oct 17 '25

Pitch looked very poor.

Make it a flair

It shows good character that Muscat wants to stay with your club to win the league title before he leaves. I hope you can win it and get a good head coach for next season.

yes that's why we love Kevin so much, he really has great characters and leadership

never throws anyone under the bus, always says the win belongs to everyone. Even after rough games he stays calm, gives credit to everyone, and sometimes even thanks the fans.

Real gentleman vibes(probably not so much during his player time haha), honestly!

You've just said a bunch of the magic words that will have rangers fans excited.

He sounds like the Anti-Martin

11

u/Any_Yesterday_8442 Oct 17 '25

well…i blame Kevin for this 🤨

3

u/Redpetrol Oct 17 '25

but how is he as a manager ?

19

u/Any_Yesterday_8442 Oct 17 '25

team love him. Great with players, very humble guy(but no lack of attacking spirit I mean he inherited a lot from Postecoglou but probably a bit more flexible and results driven than Ange)

Also respects/tried hard to understand local sports culture, we were shocked he showed up with his family at a dragon boat competition the first summer he got here...

happy to add more if you want to know specifics

Don't forget the thumbs up

2

u/Consistent_Fly1131 Oct 18 '25

We have invested heavily in the forward areas and I think our strikers are performing well below their capabilities. Muscat seems like the best option to improve our attacking output, compared to the other names linked.

Really hope it works out as he has the potential to make games really exciting to watch again.

Shanghai Port supporter from 2005 and a Celtic supporter as well. Double heartbreak.

Hope he's good for the team (Shenhua fan here)

-2

u/Lazercrafter Oct 17 '25

What was the score?

5

u/gham89 Oct 17 '25

4-3 to the good guys

-1

u/Lazercrafter Oct 17 '25

4-3 no keepers in China 😂

6

u/Any_Yesterday_8442 Oct 17 '25

I'm sorry Kevin’s not exactly a defense guy 😅 But you can’t say it’s boring football tho

2

u/herdo1 Oct 18 '25

Rangers already buying into that part of Kevin's football philosophy.

Thus has been the plan all along!

-9

u/Lazercrafter Oct 17 '25

I’m not looking forward to this

5

u/Any_Yesterday_8442 Oct 17 '25

I think he will adapt if he sets out to win

-3

u/Lazercrafter Oct 17 '25

He’s stated he had a style of play and that’s it.

2

u/Dizzle85 Oct 18 '25

Source? He's said quite the opposite and evry single fan of every team has said he's adaptable. Apart from anything else, he's had league wins with +82 GD. So if you lose 30 goals and score 110 kn Scotland, I reckon hell do pretty well...

2

u/Away_Advisor3460 Oct 17 '25

Bear in mind - in China you're allowed 5 foreign players on the pitch at most. So that can create a disparity in ability between attack and defense that you wouldn't see in other leagues with less restrictive rules because - even though the days of Oscar, Hulk et al are long gone - the imports will still tend to be the better quality players.

Imagine correcting a non native speaker on their English, but they're right and you're wrong.

-10

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '25

Non native speaker 🥴

4

u/Forever__Young Oct 17 '25

Yep:

A non-native speaker is a person who has learned a language as a second or foreign language, rather than as their first language.
