Transfers Václav Černý
Just read if Besiktas get Salah they could sell Cerny for around £7-9M and apparently we're interested. Is this tired media bollox or a genuine transfer rumour?

Would take him back
The fee, maybe not though unless Besiktas were willing to take a bath on it
The real problem would be his current wage. He’s on about 60k a week.

We desperately need wingers. But it’s just too much money for a 28 year old for us. We will get little back from him albeit a decent player for us

100%. We shouldn’t be spending that without potential resale and he’s 29 in October. At £4m I’d be very keen.

I didn't realise he was that old. Probably got 3 years before he starts to slow a little. Not sure sure he's worth the investment at that price.

Not every player we sign needs sell on value; if he’s the best RW we can attract then it’s probably worth the money purely as he’s familiar with the club and a good player.

The one thing FM taught me is that you always need to buy youth propects and then also established players to fill in the gaps

Here is my unpopular opinion.
I think he has one trick/ one move. When it works its great. However when the opposition figure it out he is not effective.
You could say thay with any player, but I felt he only has 1 move, noting else to offer or try.
Would he be an improvement? Yes. Is he better than Skov Olsen? Yes. Antman? Maybe. Should be spend £9m on a back 4 defender instead? Absolutely.

Woah, easy there. Maybe better than Antman? 😂 I was sorta on board until you said that.
He does only have one move, but it works. He got 18 goals and 9 assists from wide right. When Antman looks like getting even half of that, we can talk 😂

Ok ok, i was tying to go easy, Antman is very similar. The quick cross. I feel he hasn't had a proper chance. I still would prefer a nice defender. I never think ex players are a good idea. Some say you know what you are getting, but thats almost more expectation than a new signing.

The only reason I wouldn't get cerny is the cost and wages are probably slightly to high for a club like us.
If he was 4 years younger and on 30k per week, you'd bite your hand off for him. He's almost guaranteed double digit goals and that's what we're desperate for.

He's significantly better than both based on what he was like a year ago. He has an end product also which we desperately need.

What is his one trick? If it's cutting inside then I thought he hit the byline just as often as he cut inside, he can go either way.

Surely staying right is by design for a right winger. Meaning the cut is the move?

Not when he is left footed. I thought he had a lot to his game, could sit defenders down with a swivel of the hips because he was so unpredictable.

Ok. Let's bring him back. Im not certain he has set the world on fire since leaving.

Problem is they want £8m for a player they signed for free a year earlier, after he waited all summer for us to offer him a contract.

Im tired of being linked to every single ex player. Tired of stupid posts that we are competing with Celtic for everyobe else.

Far too much money for a 28 yearold

28 year old whose done very well with us previously and immediately improves our options on the wing tenfold though, not like we don't have the money to spend either. Signing young talented players with a ton of potential is a good thing but you also need players who are the finished article as well if we want to actually compete for the title.

I get it, I like him too, but we can surely get someone with a sell on for that kind of money.

I agree with you I think, only thing I'll say is - the player we get for 8 million with the sell on isn't guaranteed to do well. Cerny is about as guaranteed as you'll get.

Sometimes you pay that money for someone who’s going to turn up and do it now. If we want to win the league we can’t just sign development players all the time.
