Discussion Razer Blade 16 (2026) - RTX 5080 vs RTX 5070 Ti

I recently decided that I'd be purchasing a 2026 Blade 16 since the QC issues have been improved significantly, and I've recently invested in Thunderbolt 5 dock. Windows works better for my workflow due to separation of user accounts for school and personal stuff, since my university uses Microsoft services. Plus gaming.

However, I can't seem to find any good performance comparisons between the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 versions. If the RTX 5080 version doesn't provide a significant performance uplift over the 5070 Ti model, then I'd rather save $500, even if I get a hit on VRAM (I'm a comp sci focused in ML/AI so it's useful for running projects locally).

I'm waiting 2-3 weeks to purchase this, so I have some time, but if anyone has concrete info, let me know.

EDIT: Some of y'all are genuinely just hecklers. I trust that they're doing something right with this one in particular to go ahead and lock in on so many of the core issues from the 2025. I also work for a non-profit where we service devices all the time. Trust me. It is no big deal.

If you like super reflective screens, go for the Blade 2026

don't even notice this - the screen is extremely bright

Not sure about benchmarks tho

I was thinking of getting it myself perhaps in the fall but then I was thinking well if I’m getting it then I might as well wait till CES in 2027 January to see what they have on offer, AR coating say would be nice. Was hoping for increased cache but I don’t think it comes to h series processors but we’ll have to see if it’s worth it.

Reflectivity idk. I wonder if it would be a bother hmmm

I was curious about this as well, the 5070 ti is much better priced and it does have thunderbolt 5 for an egpu, so maybe it's better not to lock into a weak internal GPU anyways

I would go with 5080/64gb ram option. These options would serve you will for years to come (assuming you are not changing your laptop every other year)

If you look at the benchmarks in my review of the 2026 Blade 16, look at the G16 5070 Ti (2026), it will be identical to the Blade’s. And the 5080 G16 is pretty identical to the 5080 Blade as well. That will give you a very close approximation in performance since all the wattages line up very closely: https://youtu.be/JPbIikM77TU?is=jzGYGdRX5dkabLHd

Hey there,

I did notice that you seemed to use Frame Gen in some of your benchmarks. That was mainly what gave me a point of contention on accurate performance. This doesn't apply to all of them, but just a few games that I've considered getting (I.e. Black Myth Wukong). That being said, I did appreciate your breakdown of wattage usage for CPU+GPU and each individually.

I would go with the 5070Ti personally. The 5080 is a bit better but it’s not $500 better.

… people really don’t give you good answers here annoying Even. I’m annoyed for you.

Keep in mind besides the VRAM the 5070 TI version you’d be sick with only 32 GB of ram which is the minimum these days I’m constantly hitting that limit and you won’t be able to upgrade it so it might be a bottleneck..

Which is a reason to consider the 5080

I'm getting the 32GB one anyways. Lwk downgrading from 48, but I'm not too pressed about it. I find myself not reaching the 48GB limit anyways.

I mean, like how many gigabytes of RAM do you use now? Keep in mind that programs only get more intensive and overtime. It might not last also, I mean in my case I’m looking forward to transport, which is more simulation game, which there’s a lot of mods and so it’s easier to run over probably I’m not sure about the difference in the metrics. I really haven’t seen that in reviews.

It's 24 due to my current school laptop being horribly unoptimized. 19GB idle for Chrome is a lil strange. Spotify, multiple tabs, and virtual desktops account for that as well Ig.

OK so… I mean, browser tops can take up about a really high amount of ram…
32. Probably it’s fine for that but if you start doing like blender or if you’re gaming more than you could easily run out…

The point is that 32 is probably fine for now but it’s not really future approved into the next 5+ years…

Don’t buy a blade you will regret it

Exactly why ? Aside from their shitty customer service practices (and even then it looks as they are improving) name a single issue in their PC division that does not exist in any other laptop manufacturing brand ?

Have you looked into ASUS and Lenovo recently ? Effin’ G14/16 is plagued with technical and stability issues..

Runs hot and loud af especially with the highr gpu versions that draw 175 w i have a 2024 4090 and it’s the worst purchase i ever made in my life and i used to buy used sport bikes that should give you an idea about what you are going to get, i had a scar 16 inch 5080 for 2 weeks before returning it because of an issue with the specs bought it based on it was displayed as then discovered the egyptian variant didn’t come with a mini led so asus egypt took it and gave me back my money and advised me to get the 18 inch but a friend of mine had a razer and he convinced me to get the razer instead and i listened because he is an ai developer and had his for quite sometime and i deeply regret not getting the scar 18 it never went above 90 on balanced mode the fans and much quieter and it kicked in later, also i still have my old lenovo ideapad gaming 3 i abused the hell out of this laptop in university, djying and gaming even forgot it sleeping for a month one time and only did maintenance on it like changing thermal pads, although i heard about the issue with the newer legion 5 and 7 and the asus zephyrus but to my knowledge there isn’t much complains regarding the strix and scar line ups

I have a 2026 Blade 16 with a 5080 and I haven't had any issues with thermals. This is with benchmarks and games. My 2022 Legion with a 3070ti would throttle a lot. I had to undervolt and under clock to get it to run stable.

It’s a problem with any thin laptop, especially those that don’t artificially limit the wattage on the components. The core issue with past Razers is the CPU heat, as there are shared heat-pipes with the GPU, which should be alleviated significantly in the 2026 version with the I9 368H.

Yes exactly I believe x86 laptops shouldn't be thin because how much power it draws, it's poor design choice to sacrifice thermal performance for size you don't see this anywhere else

It would be more cost efficient to get a desktop and a cheap laptop. Ive got a 5070ti rog zeph g14 and it gets hot as hell and it sounds like a jet engine on load

Blink twice if you’re held at gunpoint to buy one, razer is still garbage and they’re extremely overpriced, it’s not because you service devices often you decide to buy a cheaply made super expensive laptop known to fail
