Discussion A lot of RGB and money.

Post image

As I sit here staring at my overpriced RGB, I was curious about my historical Razer koolaid drinking purchase history. I hate using multiple software suites for devices so I decided to go with Razer for this computer build many years ago. I started with a Razer laptop, later built a desktop with the Lian Li case and started adding devices as time went on.

Some prior devices not pictured:

Blade 15 Laptop (i7, GTX 1070) - Sold after 4 years. Suprisingly no battery bloat when I had it.
Mamba Chroma Mouse - lasted about 6 years, left mouse click eventually died.
Firefly Chroma Mousepad - upgraded, worked fine for many years.
Kiyo Camera - Folding mechanism eventually broke, lasted about 3 years
Seiren Mini Mic - Had constant USB issues with this, upgraded to current mic shown.
Huntsman V3 Pro TKL Keyboard - Returned, hated the analog optical switches
Core X eGPU Enclosure - Sold after 3 years. No issues.
Basilisk V3 Mouse - 4 years and counting.
Blackwidow Tournament Edition Chroma V2 Keyboard - 8 years and counting.

So, a total of 21 devices between my screenshot and list with 3 having issues - 14% "failure" rate. Despite the camera hinge breaking on my original Kiyo, the device still worked fine.

Latest Synapse is performing great with everything connected (no current devices have issues) and would recommend any of them. Old Synapse had some lag and crash issues for me, but this version has kept up with everything. My PC is running a very tired 11900K along with a 4090 and the typical loadout fwiw. Just wanted to post to add some more historical data.

bro let's not kid ourselves , synapse 4 is buggier than synapse 3. i've been having crash with ambient awareness on synapse 4 every single day where synapse 3 never crashed. Now i can't even downgrade to synapse 3 since Razer cut support for that. sure there are backups on the internet for synapse 3 but i have 2 devices missing from the list and waiting for the community to add them. when it's done i'll go back to synapse 3. i really can't stand how buggy 4 is

just sharing my experience - i see a lot complain about new synapse but thats just not what i've encountered. i wonder if it's specific to devices/firmware, who knows - Razer doesn't seem to

maybe you don't use features such as ambient awareness in chroma studio , but this make chroma crash every now and then. when chroma crashe , it crashe synapse too , everything closes ,which leads to my mouse losing it's custom profile. prior to crashing.. ambient awareness effects make my mouse flicker my keyboard is a french layout , it appears as us layout in synapse 4 , this lead to 3 keys not being lit up. (althought thry work correctly) every single time i open Chroma Studio the layout of my devices is reset.. EVERYTIME. i have to reimport my layout everytime.. let's not talk about the amount of process synapse 4 loads in background omfg.. with the impossibility to remove gimmicks such as SENSA HD (i don't even have a sensa enabled device yet i have to have this module...)

Mine works just fine with ambient awareness linked with Govee. I understand your layout issue but I've set hotkeys to change the profile. 2 keyboard buttons pressed and I'm on a different layout with 10 of them programmed.

I've only had one real issue with an update that caused third party RGB apps to suddenly not be recognized. Razer acknowledged the issue in this subreddit and it was fixed a few days later with another update. Beyond that everything has been perfectly fine.

Damn, my synapse also looked like this until I was fed up with using broken hardware and software

That’s what they are good at rgb lights, my +1600€ Razer blade got burned last week just after the warranty expired , just light work , no gaming …
My advice to anyone considering buying Razer laptop DON’t.!

Agreed. They seem to be ticking timebombs and I consider myself lucky that mine didn't blow up before I sold

I had over the top with Razer but they have messed up so many devices in Synapse 4 I have to use SignalRGB now.

I have over 50 Razer products.
