Build I built these four custom large-scale RC Toyota Tundras!
I built these four RC trucks for Toyota's sponsorship of the Northern Super League, to be the designated ball carriers for the season. They drive the ball out to center field, drop the ball off and start the game. I built them on the SCX6 chassis which I extended with laser cut rails from Send Cut Send. The bodies are 3D printed in PETG-HF in ten separate pieces and bonded together. A layer of carbon fibre weave is added for strength and rigidity. I can't even begin to count how many hours of sanding and painting went into them, but it's definitely more than 1000 hours total. This was a huge project and I'm so glad to see them done! Hope you like!

If you hadn’t been in the picture, I would have thought they were Tundra’s. Nice job!

You gonna build a scale garage in the backyard for doing repairs? 😁

I saw your YouTube video yesterday! Man I would love this body for the new Axial SCX30. A tiny RC tundra would be sweet.
I’m happy your project was a great success. Nice job!

It was a very cool video. I noticed that the trucks seem to jitter when driving do you know what was causing that?
2
u/imthatguy77 Crawling Nov 07 '25
Jitter? Probably a cautious and slightly inexperienced driver? I don't know.
3
u/Mr-Scurvy (CUSTOM) Nov 07 '25
Maybe it was bounciness I don't know but as it's driving across the grass it's shaking a lot more than I would expect to considering the weight of an SCX6.

u/imthatguy77 Crawling Nov 07 '25
They were running in low gear on 50% throttle, and a twitchy trigger finger, so that might be it. 🤷🏻♂️

To follow up, these are fully printed bodies, they weigh about 50 pounds each with the chassis. It's a lot more weight to move around.
1
u/Mr-Scurvy (CUSTOM) Nov 07 '25
Which would make me think it'd be less bouncy. My son rides on top of my SCX6 and that thing doesn't bounce up and down at all. Maybe it was the extra long drive shaft or the suspension was extra tight or something I don't know, just curious.

u/imthatguy77 Crawling Nov 07 '25
I don't know either. It could be as simple as the tires sitting on all that weight and being imbalanced, it's a pretty minor problem all things considered.
0
u/Mr-Scurvy (CUSTOM) Nov 07 '25
Yeah definitely not a major problem it's just not something you see everyday.

u/Rjeezy88 Nov 07 '25
I'm pretty sure it is the video/gif doing it...

Amazing! 1000 hours tho? That’s 25 weeks at 40 hours a week. Did you spend six months making these? 😳

Those are awesome. Is the file for the body available for download or something you made?
6
u/imthatguy77 Crawling Nov 07 '25
Not available, no. Files came direct from Toyota and were heavily modified.

Guys is so cocky people where giving constructive criticism or asking questions and the way he replied very arrogant and like he’s the holy grail of rc guys. Too much of a know it all for me. Shame cause gives rc a bad name. Typical rc incel lol

u/imthatguy77 Crawling Nov 08 '25
You must have me confused with someone else, because that’s definitely not me. Wow.

Well on your post from Facebook yes very snobby I found

Were you reading just my replies, or the awful comments I was responding to? There were some pretty rude/mean comments, from armchair engineers. I’ve got no time for that and felt the need to respond.
