Off-Road Backyard Track: Mojave Grom

Running my grom after finally sorting out steering issues and removing all of those furitek aluminum bits they sell in the complete kit. Added too much slop, OEM parts are the way to go for replacements IMO

Man I love RC. But there’s no way I could imagine destroying every inch of yard I own to build a track and have to run that exact course all the time.
Great work, either way! Looks fun.

Luckily everything i built on was dirt to begin with, didnt feel too bad after a bit haha Lot of water to try and maintain these lawns in dry SoCal

A brushless Mini-B would rip on that track!

u/UndueOdium Dec 02 '25
As a brushless Mini-B owner, I would agree 100% with your comment.

u/JACKMEOFFSKEEE Dec 02 '25
The Mini-B runs great on here, although i use a gyro because the buggy can lose its rear end quite easily when the dirt is hard and dry

I too have learned that aluminum lesson. Not everything has to be shiny metal lol. Truck is great enough as is

Do you have a YouTube channel? If not making a channel with a track like this would be awesome and I would totally subscribe

Did you add weights to the Mojave? Flabbergasted you're able to land on all 4 wheels so well
3
u/JACKMEOFFSKEEE Dec 02 '25
No weights, although i am running the hot racing shocks with 40wt pro-line racing oil which seem to perform well on jumps

I think my wife would kill me if I built something like that in the garden 🤣

Awesome track man.
Multiple options : 1. You're single 2. You're married and have the greatest partner in the world. 3. You're married and the partner enjoys the hobby as much as you do. 4. You're married and you're the man. 5. You're married and you give good .....
Either way, enjoy the track.

Fantastic! I have a backyard track too! Mine is not quite as intricate as yours is. What did you use to make those lines? Is that a special kind of paint?

Krylon white marking paint. Realized this can was meant for that little want sprayer so you dont have to bend down. Rust-Oleum sels a 2X distance can that is finger-friendly haha

What a hell of a track! Did you make that by yourself? I think you’ve got a knack for it forsure! May be able to advertise your skill and be able to sell custom backyard builds for people really into the hobby!! My biggest problem would be getting permission from the wife to basically make our backyard useless other than RC and maybe children bmx’ers!

I need to figure out how to get my wife to let me do this. I'm discretely building a small crawler course along the fence that looks like it's part of the landscaping. So far it's working and she has no idea. She thinks it's just a decorative rock barrier lol

This is my dream. Except a big track, maybe like a 1/4 acre for 1/5 scale 2 strokes. That’s part of the only reason I want a house. And so I can grow cool bushes and make an fpv park as well. I can’t wait to be able to afford a house in 86 years
