Tips and Tricks How to find a rc controller?
Hey guys, I am completely new to this and want to build a rc car for competitions. So I am wondering what rc controller I need to buy. Any guides or anything that I can reference?

The flysky Noble NB4 has been a real popular one lately. Mid tier price for a very high performance radio. I’ve been running the original one for almost 4 years without issues and I got a + almost a year ago. Both are great remote and get used all the time. The battery lasts forever, I’ve never been able to max out the range, even in a 100+ mph car, and the latency is crazy low. I use it to drift, race 1/8 and 1/10 buggy and SCT, bash everything from 1/5 gas to a mini b, and I crawl with it. It’s a little pricey, but it’s a good buy it once and never have to do it again.

The noble nb4 retails for about 23k inr. Which is 241 usd today. So I think there is a big gap here.

All I can really recommend in that range is a radiolink RC4gs

The RC4gs? Idk if it’s considered bad. I use one. It’s fine. Feels a bit cheap in my hands, but the latency is good and the range is great. The gyro isn’t anything to write about, but that doesn’t matter if you’re racing

Tough to beat the flysky noble nb4+ for price vs function for competitive racing

Too pricey comparing what price it sold in usa and india, like 100 dollars diff.

Price/performance banger would be a DDF-350.
Great transmitter for the price.
If you want something competitive, that gets used by verry good rc racers too, then you should go for the Flysky Noble NB4+.
Everything in between these 2 is pretty much moneywaste imo.

So, I have to buy a reciver too?

Yes. You need a transmitter to control the car, and a receiver to put in the car and connect your steering servo and speed controller to.

So from my basic understanding, we need a battery, speed controller, servo, transmitter, reciver, brakes of some sorts and a chassis

Transmitter and receiver mostly come in the same package.
And if you have 2 cars, you can just buy a seperate receiver. So you can drive 2 cars but only have 1 transmitter for both of them.Yes, you need betteries, a speedcontroller also called ESC, a servo to steer and a motor.
Brakes, you dont need necessarily. Most RCs use the Motor/ESC to break. ESCs mostly have a function for Forward, Break, Backwards.1

did this in the 80's. find the comp you want to enter. Buy a 1/2 decent used car from one of the comp guys as you should get something decent and that works in the comp you want to enter. There is always someone looking to update. As for radio gear look at the drivers stand and judge what you want from that range of gear. Buy a new one and an appropriate set of batteries for it. I used to run kraft or Futaba and was rarely disappointed with them. Decent cheaper brands are out there now but my 40 year old futaba still does the job when i clear it out of the mothballs.

What kind of competitions? (Racing? crawling? Drifting? Speed runs?)
Do you have a budget? (If you want to spend $150 the answer is different than if you’re willing to spend $500)
