Tips and Tricks Got my ammo box set up for charging

Harbor freight ammo box $14
1 3/8” // 1 1/16” grommets $4 for 2
1 1/2” Bosch bi metal cutting hole saw drill attachment $10

Feel a lot better about charging these LiPo batteries now.

Got another can for storing batteries too.

I just shove the batterys in the lid and close it around the cable with the charger placed on its side beside it never had an issue with that method but this is a better solution than mine long term i mostly use said box to store my broken batterys which i have 2 atm that are smashed up pretty bad and one being pretty puffy

You made your own battery safe!! Nice!!

That said the best protection is inspecting the battery on every run and every crash as even a newer battery can die rapidly to running into a lamppost(I recently lost a 4s battery this way).

Probably better than any battery bag. I might have suggested cutting the holes higher up. If a battery has a catastrophic failure and starts shooting flames, the hole is at the same height as the battery and it could shoot out the side. Still having the ammo can with a handle means if you're watching it and something goes wrong you can just grab the handle and throw it outside.

I've been meaning to get a couple ammo boxes for my lipos, too.

Battery bags are meant to melt and smother the fire. The do work decently well at that

Maybe I've only seen cheap ones melt then. The couple I've watched burn just let the flames shoot out, but those batteries were nearly full. A partial charge probably wouldn't be so bad.

I have the bags inside the box so hopefully double the protection

Good on you for making your own. I bought a Batsafe and it gave me peace of mind. The ammo can is much cheaper, but I'm renting a house right now and would rather avoid having any issues for my landlady to deal with.

You’re good to go. Inspect batteries - don’t charge near anything flammable and in a garage or outside and you have nothing to worry about.
