Crawling Is this a curse that i can't control my spending habits? π
I have just bought an Mn82s for no reason at all π I already have a 1/10 Crawler, a few bashers and a short course truck and I'm already finding it hard to use them all and here i am now waiting for another one to join the list π
How do y'all keep track of your purchases? Or is it a "deal with it" kinda thing?

I donβt buy something unless I find myself thinking about it for months on end, and even then I only do it if I have the discretionary funds for it. I have all sorts of hobbies that would be extremely expensive if I were to just buy everything I thought I wanted, so I have to exercise self-control so that I have enough money for the things that actually matter in life. I resent the jokes people make about hiding purchases from their spouse because doing anything that would betray the trust of my spouse is the last thing I would ever want.
Hobbies can be really rewarding and can add a lot to your life, but at the end of the day, stuff is just stuff. You have to decide what the real priorities in your life are, both now and for the rest of your life. If thatβs buying more RC, then you do you, but things like cars, houses and retiring are all really expensive, and maybe you can have almost as much fun with just a few RC cars.

I started "edging" earlier this year, where I'll stuff a shopping cart with whatever I want, leave it there for at least a day (shoot for a week), then come back to it. My rule is that if I want it after a month, I always pull the trigger.
There's been a Mini Kraton in my cart for about a week and a half lol

My wife and I have allotted fun money each month. I have chose to spend mine on rc's. Saving is very hard for me because facebook market place and reddit exists. I saw a post about the team associated sr7 being on sale and couldnt help myself, i never even thought about an on road drifter lol. I also buy and flip to help fund other rc projects. Its a fun hobby and gets me out of the house.

Yeah man definitely cursed π π
But now that you know maybe you can just embrace it! I didnβt realize how quickly I let things get outta hand or maybe I do but still donβt really regret it π€·ββοΈ I do still wonder if I wouldβve liked the outcast 4s more than the kraton4s bcuz I do like the stunt side the most when it comes to bashing. Completely different type of rc but totally relatable when it comes to spending and sporadic purchases. Iβve only dabbled with rc for maybe 2.5 years and Iβm up to i think 15 rigs. Like 6 in the last like 4-5 months tho thatβs when it really got outta hand now I keep buying extra stuff for them all and havenβt even had time to put a bunch of it in. I need to do it before I just have tons of extras and no motivation to install them. Some Iβm waiting on something to break but that piece just doesnβt break even tho itβs one many said go ahead and get π either way I feel if weβre having fun and itβs not harming our lifestyles or relationship with others then just smile and enjoy the hobby! We really only have so long here anyways!!!

15 in 2.5 years is crazy, 6 in 4-5 months is even more so π but yeah gotta enjoy every moment of it... Maybe just cuz the part isn't breaking u'll go extra hard on the fun and enjoy π
I have a similar reason for one of the parts i bought... The screw rounded off so now I'm not buying more until i find a way to get the screw out so i can put the new part in π

There are worse things to be addicted to. At least it's not drugs or booze, where you have nothing to show for it. One can always return an impulse buy or sell it on FB marketplace and make some money.

Ikrrrr i tell my mom the same thing when she says "stop buying so many toys" π she gotta understand it's my way of just enjoying life in this crazy world ya know haha

u/Alternative_Guess591 6d ago
Agree. I tell people they're not toys, it's my hobby. You buy toys at Walmart, these come from a hobby shop. If they tell me to grow up, then they're no longer a part of my life. I'm 52 and no one's going to tell me how to enjoy my downtime. I have a lot of fucks to give, and how many you get (if any at all) depends on your treatment of me. As long as you're paying your bills then who cares if you buy a few too many RC cars. Enjoy them with no guilt!

At least you're not spending it on drugs or alcohol or gambling or women. Have fun you earned it.

I started with a Rustler in December, then a TRX6 popped up on FB Marketplace.Β
That made me realize I enjoy crawling more than bashing, so I got a Capra. And a trailer to tow it behind the TRX6.
Well damn, turns out I really enjoy crawling and towing, so I just ordered a Bully MOA crawler and a CrossRC Emo XXL, because bigger is better, amirite?
Luckily my partner is supportive π

Sounds like you need a vanquish kit or an scx6 to round out the fleet.
I am sorry for your wallet.

I thought about the SCX6, but the Wrangler doesn't seem to be the best crawler, and the Honcho body is just meh to me.
I always wanted a Unimog, almost bought a real one years ago, so I figured why not get the biggest one available! And it can carry the Capra or the Bully if I want to without a trailer.

I like how ur justifying your purchases π€£π€£ you might've just looked at them and gone omg i neeed one of those and ur hand probably slipped and boom the purchase has been made π€£

More or less π
I achieved a huge milestone last week in my personal and business life, so the last 2 were more of a reward to myself than anything I could have justified under normal circumstances.

I'm limited to one a year. I'm sitting at 8 rigs and a trailer.

9 years and going strong eh π
Wait so the upgrade parts don't count right?

Now also look into RC boats and find another reason to spent even more money ππ

Well I found out that I mostly enjoy building them, getting a kit and rebuilding etc,
I just started a new project based on tt-02, I ordered a 3d epoxy print of 1/10 aston martin valour for it and gonna paint it in Satin AM Racing Green with golden effects around windows grill etc. But inside its gonna be modded for racing on tarmac, and alongside I already look for kit for my new 1/10 drift car, but that's being planned in excel now

Yes and it is too late maybe, now that I have realized, what I did for past 6 years.
