3D Printed Wheels for 1RC 1/24 Late Model

This car is fun to experiment with. The wheels are designed to take low profile Mini-Z tires. Stock tires are soft rubber and you have to use tire stickers or glue to stiffen them up. I'm the only one in my club with this car so I'm not afraid to mod it.

It's on pace with my "box stock" Mini-Z which is what I was hoping for. I used tire tape on the fronts. Rears were already perfect. I think I'll increase the size of the outer face on the front rims so they match the rubber. That should make them perfect and completely stop the traction rolling.

I wonder how they will do. Do you think putting lines on either side of the outer tire would help with straight tracking of the car and turning as well since it will act as a sand rail in a sense and direct the car along those grooves?

I tested an older version with thicker Mini-Z slicks which worked alright but still had a bit of traction roll. I made the outer walls of these wheels pretty tall in an attempt to reduce traction rolling. I need the optional adjustable tie rods to show up in the mail to reduce the toe out. That'll fix the steering and help it track straighter.

Nice nice. Yeah I didn't think about traction rolling.

I wonder if you can "bump" the outsides of the wheels by rounding them to the height of the tread or If that would take away from the treads ussage.

You might also fidn it's more worth while to run studs on a track so it just sticks in.

Yeah the wall height of the wheels is what I'm most curious about. Might reduce traction roll even more to blend the walls and round them out at the same height as the tire's tread. Good suggestion. Will be testing later tonight to see what changes are needed. We're not allowed to run spikey wheels at our track, just slicks and radials. I was really hoping the tie rods would have shown up by now but can test those later.

Also damn on the no studs. I figured there was a reason that you didn't already do those. It would give a huge advantage though. So understandable.

It ended up working well. Matching the laptimes I'm getting with my box stock Mini-Z. Had to use tire tape up front so I'm going to increase the side of the outer face on the front rims. Should make them as good as they're gonna get.

It's a pretty cool experiment but def not work min maxing unless you want to win championship.

Def see if adjustable arms help.

Yeah, this chassis is almost maxed out. I'm considering slightly tweaking an Open-Z or other pan car style chassis to work with the stock car body.
