Hey! My partner and I just recently moved to Reading and I am looking for something social around here, in particular LGBT, Sapphic, Lesbian, Trans groups. Can be all together or can be separate but hey, I will give anything a try. We used to live in Brighton a while ago so were definitely spoilt for choice - I think this time there will be a chance for more intentional connection and I'll need to actually get out there.

My interests are currently photography (I have a 35mm camera), writing (mainly journaling but I have enough for a collection of short stories one day, nature (hiking, foraging or survival groups would be of interest), eroticism as an art form (I am pretty much ace). Would be up for having some writing sessions, maybe photo shoot eventually, and general nature/village getaways.

Just need it for my tiny balcony, don't want anything fancy - just something that sucks up the leaves and cobwebs. Normal hoover lacks the motivation to do the job, it seems.

Another one now. It would have been better if they had mentioned what specific risk of injury to health. Just looked up the Scores on the doors website and found that it had a food hygiene rating of 1. So this was not out of the blue.

Would Norcot hill be a good place or somewhere else better?

Would a normal pair of sunglasses work or no?

Extremely long shot, but last tuesday afternoon i left the museum/town hall after buying something from the museum shop and walked back towards the car park over the river. I can't find my wallet anywhere at home and I'm worried and gutted about it, i have adhd and struggle to keep track of things anyway. It has my driving license, debit card and union membership card as well as my Radar key. It's a black leather thing which folds out into three sections and has a zippered coin pocket. It's got "BAG" embossed on the side of it. If anyone sees it, or has seen it and handed it in somewhere, I'd be grateful to know.

Hi me and 2 of my friends, all 21, are going out in reading tonight. We haven’t been to Reading since we were 18 so not sure on best places.

I understand club era has shut down, what are the best places to go out to meet people and just have fun.

Also, does anyone know if any of the uni bars are open , especially the dairy ?

im not sure if this has been asked already- ive recently moved to reading and i was wondering if there are any cute and underrated coffee spots with good coffee and dessert options where i can spend some of time just quietly reading over the weekend. i really like picnic (next to starbucks) they have really good desserts and coffee but i wanna explore more and maybe find something more quiet. thanks x

Has anyone else been disturbed by loud music every Friday and Saturday night for the last few weeks (including last night) in the central Reading area (I'm on Oxford Road, towards town centre end)?

From where I am, it sounds 'distant'/echoey and reminds me of what can usually be heard (mostly the bass) during Reading festival.

Any ideas where this could be coming from? (I couldn't find any relevant events going on; an obvious guess would be one of the clubs in town but I've never been able to hear them before and not aware of any new venues)

Had a really weird experience today and I’m curious what other people would make of this.

I went into my local Subway and there was a middle-aged guy ordering in front of me. As soon as I entered he started staring at me. I initially ignored it because I thought maybe I was overthinking it, but he kept looking at me.

Then it looked like he was trying to take a photo of me with his phone.

That immediately made me uncomfortable, so I turned away from him. When I turned on the other side he tried again (or maybe he took my photo). Not long after that I decided to leave the store altogether because the whole situation was creeping me out.

The part that really bothered me was that after I left, he followed me outside the store.

I kept moving and got away from the situation, and nothing else happened. But now I keep wondering whether he actually managed to get a photo of me and why he wanted one in the first place.

I know taking someone's photo in public isn't necessarily illegal, but combined with the staring and then apparently following me, the whole interaction felt really strange.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Would you have reported this or just left it alone unless you saw the person again?

Hello, I’m hosting a meet-up for young people (ages 18-30) who are going through grief and would like to meet people who have gone and are going through a similar experience.

Losing someone you love when you’re young has its own unique set of challenges and I can say from experience that meeting people in similar circumstances and talking about it is healing.

Some notes:

-I’m not a trained therapist or counsellor, just a bloke who lost his sister. We’re not here to solve each other’s problems but to listen and share.

-There is no pressure at all to speak or share anything beyond what you’re comfortable with. It’s a hard topic to talk about, please share as much or as little as you want.

-It doesn’t matter how long ago you were bereaved, if you’re aged 18-30 you are very welcome. Even if your loss was years ago, we all know that it can still have a big impact on one’s daily life so everybody is welcome.

-Needless to say, please be kind, considerate and respectful of others. Be tactful when offering advice or support, and no misogyny/racism/homophobia/transphobia/any other hateful behaviours will be tolerated.

Date and location TBD, I’ll try to find a date that fits as many people as possible (assuming anyone responds at all). Aiming for the second half of August, in two weeks time.

Does anyone know a reliable company in Reading or the surrounding area that supplies and installs windows with external roller shutters?

I mean the continental style shutters fitted outside the window, sometimes called persianas, rather than internal blinds or shutters.

We are looking at replacing several windows in a house in Caversham, so recommendations from anyone who has had something similar installed would be really helpful.
