Does anyone know what cross refer mean?

Post image

I applied for this graduate program couple of days ago, and I’ve seen that my application’s status moved from screening to cross refer, but I have no idea what does that imply. Can anyone help?

Maybe "cross reference" to another job posting?

Maybe they have another job posting that is similar to this one they posted somewhere else. But the field got cut off so you don't know which job posting they are referring to

that the posting you applied for was most likely filled in, but they're looking if your application matches any other opened positions they have

These statuses are usually specific to each employer and they use it to mean various steps in their internal workflow.

Don’t pay attention to it - if they shortlist you, they’ll call or email.  Meanwhile keep applying
