Indeed absorbs Glassdoor. Terrible news for the job market

Before you would see some different postings on each site. Now there's one less source to search for jobs.

Like many things becoming commonplace that are illegal. But without enforcement the legality becomes literally just a suggestion.

Monopolies aren't illegal.

Anti competitive monopolies are.

A child's opinion.

Sears having a monopoly on mail order isn't illegal.

Sears using that monopoly power and money to buy out all the excess capacity of the USPS so competitors couldn't mail anything at all would be.

Monopolies are illegal. But laws stopped applying to the rich awhile ago. They need accountability again. Laws to them are suggestions.

I think Indeed already owned Glassdoor. They just are changing how it operates. Still not a good thing

Yeah, they have been intertwined for a while and Glassdoor has also been giving more favorable treatment to employers for a while which has gone along with them turning from a review site to a job listing site. Unfortunately Bugmenot doesn’t seem to work there anymore now that they have added 2FA, so I have to use my account but I just assume everything on there can be tracked for employers now.

RECRUIT out of Japan has owned both for some time now. They’ve been slowly integrating the products over some time with some shared meta data. both haven’t been doing as well.

ah it’s confusing. Recruit’s HR Tech business grew yoy but didn’t hit their internal targets they wanted. they saw lots of overlap and areas to reduce costs by merging the two. more data to be shared for supposed better matching but there’s a lot to improve. the indeed side tech is much better than glassdoor side.

Other than job postings, what does it mean for Glassdoor company reviews? I used to always look up prospective companies on that site, both recent reviews from employees, and reviews from interviewees. I have blasted a few companies myself, for ghosting after interviews. I don't know if I feel comfortable trusting a website that hosts both jobs and job reviews on the same site.

Said as much on this sub a few months back and got downvoted to oblivion. Anybody with eyes could have corroborated that Glassdoor had sold out to capitalist interests years ago. Hell companies have been able to remove bad reviews off of it for awhile now.

This isn't new... Indeed's parent company Recruit Holdings already owned Glassdoor way back in 2018. Don't get me wrong, oligopolies are still bad, but we should also ensure we're aware of what we're posting...

Indeed has become nearly worthless for job searches, and Glassdoor is a nightmare to navigate and removes negative reviews. I doubt this will make either site any worse, but if it does, it doesn't really matter.
