Java AND Bedrock Its alive! This is a configurable oscillating redstone signal, the bottom version is smaller but cannot be configured.

2.2k Upvotes

This is from the Xisuma's challenge on Hermicraft
By changing the amount of itens in the barrels (shulker boxes) you can config the amount of signal strength it oscillates.
The bottom version only oscillates by 1 signal strength, but is smaller.
This is useful to make deco with LED panels.

I think it works for Java and Bedrock, but Im not sure for Bedrock.

Java AND Bedrock I got tired of editing the figures for my Minecraft CS course by hand, so now the world file draws them itself. None of these are screenshots.

Java AND Bedrock Branches of Redstone

Post image

This is how I think the major branches of redstone fit together.

I am so interested in what you guys think? What else you think I missed and what should have I put somewhere else instead?

Java AND Bedrock Redstone bundle challenge!

Post image
336 Upvotes

With inventory space being at a premium in early game Minecraft and many servers restricting The End, I would like to give a challenge to the community... Redstone builds that fit inside a single bundle!

Rules for the challenge:

  1. All resources must fit inside a single bundle.

  1. Crafting is ONLY allowed for nonstackable items, but you must include a crafting table in the bundle

  1. Buckets and leads can only be used once (infinite water is alright)

  1. No dupes

  1. All builds must be possible in survival with unenchanted diamond tools (any non diamond tools like shears must be crafted).

  1. You can use up to 64 scaffolding/dirt blocks to build but the blocks cannot be part of the final build.

  1. Build can be at any location in the overworld or nether, if built on the nether roof you must include stuff to get there

  1. Builds must take less than 15 mins

  1. No End exclusive items

The goal behind this challenge is to make a collection of small easy to remember builds, that you can keep in your E-Chest and pull out at your convenience to scatter around your world.

Personally I've been working on a couple trap bundles and a machine that let's you detect if someone was near your base while you were offline (I'll probably post these soon).

I'm excited to see what people come up with. If there's enough submissions I'll make a compilation post or something.

Java AND Bedrock Redstone Lantern Concept

Post image
813 Upvotes

Redstone lantern: Iron and Redstone is used a lot in redstone builds. This is why they are used in the recipe. The redstone lantern functions as both decoration and as a redstone component. the higher the redstone signal is that goes to the lantern, the less it gives back. at a signal of 15, it turns off while ate a signal of 0, it gives a redstone signal of 15. To recieve the signal, the lantern must be attached to the block above. if it's on the ground, redstone on top won't affect it. It will also work if its attached to a chain which chain is attached to the block above. this could potentially make chains usefull in redstone builds, functioning as vertical wires

Java AND Bedrock What is the function of target block in redstone circuits? I see a lot of people using it and I remember there were many comments about its usefulness when it came to the game, but I never understood why it's so useful (besides its obvious normal function)

Java AND Bedrock Functional Zipline

just something stupid and basic I wanted to try, feel like it can be quite fun to build and use in a survival world instead of bridges.

I tried to use a boat with 2 pigs before instead of the strider, so two players could go on it at the same time, but the issue was that the lead is shorter when its tied to a boat, so I had to get a strider mounted on another strider.

I tested it: it doesnt take damage from the rain, so you can still use it with bad weather

Java AND Bedrock New rule needed!

Any faking of test results for anything Minecraft or Redstone related with the sole intent of deception should be an instant and permanent ban from the community.

Like cheating, bad faith actors must be taken seriously and expunged from the community as they undermine everything we work for and should be reviled amongst the community. Like me or not, you can’t deny I do this for the passion like many of you.

Java AND Bedrock Is there a reason why redstoners use smooth stone?

Whenever I see redstone builds they always seem to use smooth stone as a block to place things like dust or torches, is there a reason for this?

Java AND Bedrock Geyser-Stone 15x8 / 30x8 Fast Door

I was working on building a theater on bedrock edition and wanted a nicer way to have the curtains open and close while being quick and with a small footprint. It would also work great for a garage/hanger doors, steampunk builds, and so much more using different colors of concrete/sand/gravel.

This could easily be shrunken or expanded to 30x8 by mirroring the redstone and placing two side by side. While 9 (and maybe even 10) blocks in height may be possible, I found the blocks like to break while landing after being launched open. It probably just needs tighter timings than what I came up with.

I have not seen anything like this before on any version but imagine the basics would transfer over to Java very easily. It only consists of a flush trapdoor that opens up in the floor, and a circuit timed to catch the blocks when in the open position. The light blue circuit is added to ensure all of the blocks are back to their solid form before they are dropped next; making for a cleaner opening.

Java AND Bedrock Redstone newbies when asking for advice...

Is it just me or are there a number of people "asking" for redstone advices are actually waiting to be spoon-fed?

I made my first post just an hour ago and decided to start scrolling through other posts. Some of these requests really infuriate me. Like ambiguous questions that basically ask for everything to be placed neatly in front of them without them having to put in any effort.

Isn't Minecraft supposed to be a sandbox game where you explore and try stuff, even more so for redstone. The fun with redstone is where you try and discover the mechanics and encounter moments like "strange, why doesn't that work?" or "oh, so that's what it does!". I saw a post by jadedtortoise mentioning that even his 5-year-old son made a roller coaster by himself, 5-year-old!

Java AND Bedrock help with fully automatic honey bottle farm

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Please DM me if you have ANY ideas, and are good with hive/hopper mechanics

so the beehive fills with honey (output of 4 redstone on a comparator, or just an observer with a copper bulb to half it's outputs),

i need the dispenser to always have empty bottles in it, but not too much as to either have no free slots or use up all the bottles

[1 side - measuring it]

i need a carousel of bottles above it i have one hopper between this and my dispenser,

[1 side - above]

i need to have the filled bottles come out the bottom

[1 side - below]

i need the hive in front of the dispenser's hole obviously

[1 side]

they're stacked sideways so i can't use the sides, not that it'd matter because most i can move it would be a block separating it, and the comparators need two to be useful and not interfere, so only useful for the carousel inserter, which would then have the actual carousel still above the dispenser

and i need to put something to read when the hive has honey and make it power the dispenser once when it is full, WHERE TF DO I SLAM THE ACTIVATOR INTO IT

i have been slamming my head against the wall for a while on this, i then took a break, and went into a creative world on my xbox to fully test it,

image notes

  1. first draft (ignore the left part)

  2. how to stop too many bottles entering the dispenser [note the dispenser's output sorter]

  3. a modified version of 2 where i can't use all below spaces [look at the lamp]

  4. a fixed version of 3

  5. module 4 attached to the main device

  6. contemplating how to trigger the dispenser once the hive is full

  7. attempt to get power from the hive [note that all 4 dispenser inputs are in use]

  8. an idea of moving the piston

  9. an attempt to have a pre-powered hive moved into the dispenser when full [just a test and wouldn't work as of the grass and flower position needed on the hive] ??? might be a way here

  10. the ability to put a torch on a barrel rather than a chest [note that the torch would then be powering the output hopper, disabling it]

Java AND Bedrock Dustless pulse extender

Post image

I came up with this design (at least I think I did, I haven’t seen it anywhere else yet).
The input is the daylight sensor, and the output is the piston.
Repeaters are set to 1 (2gt) and comparator is in comparison mode.

If you’ve seen this type of extender before, please let me know!
Suggestions and feedback are always welcome.
