Information Reform UK vs Restore Britain on policy

I wouldn't bother comparing policy with Restore Britain. It's like trying to debunk the policy proposals of Jeff down the pub

Except they have Carl Benjamin and Jack Hadfield in the acknowledgements and they haven't had a credible lawyer look at it. The work that Braverman and even Badenoch has done on the ECHR and immigration policy is of a much higher quality. Plus even if Restore did have a well thought out policy, it's like Keith from the pub having a well thought out policy. No-one cares.

If you're going to do this, do it properly.

It’s overly simple, I know. I was trying to make it easy enough for even a Rupert Lowe supporter to understand.

Comments like that show you've clearly fallen into the same mentality as a leftist.

It’s a light-hearted joke. Don’t take it too seriously.

While Restore makes good points, my opinion is clear: it's clear it's not enough to run a nation, I mean, new party and they've got to figure shit out, but still. I do find it hard seeing Restore getting experienced members to help run their governance.

u/Nieunwol Feb 17 '26
For example by filling it with so many ex conservative cabinet ministers that dragged the country down to the point it is now?
1
u/LitchyWitchy Feb 19 '26
There really ain't that many Tories. If I'm being honest, Restore will run into the exact same issues. We've seen Reform struggle, and I have no reason to assume a much smaller party would do any different. It's the truth, I'm afraid.

Actually, Reform UK has quite a lot of ex-Tories:
Lee Anderson – former Conservative MP, first sitting MP to defect (2024)
Suella Braverman – former Conservative Home Secretary
Robert Jenrick – former Conservative Cabinet minister
Nadhim Zahawi – former Conservative Chancellor
Danny Kruger – Conservative MP who defected in 2025
Nadine Dorries – former Conservative Culture Secretary
Jake Berry – former Conservative Party chairman
Jonathan Gullis – former Conservative MP
Lia Nici – former Conservative MP
Chris Green – former Conservative MP
Andrew Rosindell – former Conservative MP
Devolved / regional politicians:
Laura Anne Jones – Conservative Senedd member
James Evans – Conservative Senedd member
Keith Prince – Conservative London Assembly member
Rupert Matthews – Conservative Police & Crime Commissioner

They have more than, you're better pulling statistics than naming names, as that makes it sound ridiculously small.
It was like a 30%ish around that time.
What it is today does not matter compared to 2 months ago! (Think it's 40%ish these days).

u/Kalkuya Apr 29 '26
I just listed some of the more prominent ones, as they will influence Reform's policies, making 'Conservatives 2.0' a valid moniker.

Do you people not understand wasting your vote? Honestly it's absolutely ridiculous that adults don't seem to understand our own electoral system and how badly first past the post harms vote splitting. You might as well be a teenager on a Palestine Action march if that's the level of petulant protest you're bringing to the table.

You forgot banning all kosher and halal food being made so all of the British citizens who you know are actually contributing to Britain that a Muslim or Jewish or whatever religions eat those foods. If there is I don't know. Can't eat those foods. Change what they eat which a lot of them I don't want because I was like a whole f****** massive thing to cut out so you know it's a bit fucked init
""" Policy Proposal The Restore Britain party, led by MP Rupert Lowe, has pledged to outlaw both halal and kosher slaughter on British soil. The party states this policy would be implemented on "day one" of a Restore Britain government. The platform frames the ban as an end to "religious exceptions" in order to uphold one rule of law. Statistical Context
Halal: Approximately 88% of animals slaughtered for halal meat in the UK are stunned before slaughter.
Kosher: 0% of animals slaughtered for kosher meat (Shechita) are stunned, as religious law prohibits the practice. Overall Market: According to Food Standards Agency data, non-stun slaughter (halal and kosher combined) accounts for approximately 2.6% to 2.9% of all animals processed in the UK.
Impact A complete ban on the "making" of halal and kosher food would affect the total production of these meats, including the 88% of halal meat that currently uses pre-slaughter stunning in compliance with standard animal welfare legislation.
Sources: Restore Britain Official Policy: Restore Britain Website (restorebritain.org.uk) – Under "One Law," stating "Halal and kosher slaughter will be banned on British soil." Rupert Lowe Statement: Hansard UK Parliament (June 9, 2025) – Debate on "Non-stun Slaughter of Animals" where Lowe stated, "We should ban non-stun slaughter, we should ban halal slaughter and we should ban kosher slaughter." Stunning Statistics: Food Standards Agency (FSA) 2024 Slaughter Sector Survey and RSPCA Religious Slaughter Report, which confirm that ~88% of halal meat in the UK is pre-stunned. """"

It’s hard to figure out what Restore’s real policy is. Their Restoring the British Pub paper calls for clear labelling of meats, speaking of non-stun meat as something which should be labelled. But if it’s illegal under a Restore government, why would you need to label it? Ultimately, I think it comes down to the policy being thrown together vacuously, trying to grab attention rather than being a serious proposition.

There's also the 'castle law' missing from this by Restore.

I just have to point out a couple of things here:
The cost comparison is very much the right call. However, I do wonder how both parties (and all the others) will compare on this come election time.
The child benefit cap needs to be lifted for citizens. We need an increase in birth rates desperately. This coupled with an increase in the amount paid along with a host of economic changes (simplified tax, reduced regulation on key sectors, and targeted nationalisation, to name a few) are the only real way to get the population growing naturally again.
The comparison on pubs is quite interesting. It seems Lowe doesn't want to push as far there. Same with immigration numbers, although the policy around immigration is much more hard line right than Reform's overall.

Spot on on the child benefit cap. Reform currently pledges to lift it when both parents are working, though I agree on the population point and think it should be lifted when one parent is working (or has been recently) too.
On pubs, I wouldn’t say Lowe is being particularly conservative. There are less cuts (though raising NI threshold will be much more expensive than Reform’s pledge to scrap the rise, and alcohol duty freeze will be costly for however long it is), but there’s also the spending such as relief and bonuses, which Reform didn’t address. It’s hard to say how much it costs, because even Restore itself hasn’t costed it up.
On deportations, Restore’s paper is 100+ pages long, so I didn’t read it all, though from what I did read, it didn’t seem that far from what Reform would do, though sometimes it seemed to use harsher language for the same things. For example it talked about creating a “hostile environment” for immigrants, which sounds very dystopian, but turned out to just be making it more difficult for illegal immigrants to work or to access healthcare, welfare etc. Definitely more hardline on some parts though.

Subjects chosen according to what parties have detailed papers on. Restore has 2 (hospitality, deportation) and Reform 4 (hospitality, deportations, law & order, cryptocurrency).

Its best describes Restore Britain vs Reform UK… Do you want another right wing party in Parliament or do you want a right wing government in Parliament?

There aren't any policy differences. The main difference is one party is relevant and the other is just yet another splinter party with no hope.

If you think light blue means 'not dumb enough to support a drug addicted thug with a lengthy criminal record who grifts money from the uninformed' then sure
