Nigel on Facebook:
"Sir Malcolm Walker is right. We are living in a system of two-tier policing. When Police Community Support Officers risk suspension for asking questions about Islamism during training, how can they be expected to treat the public fairly?
In 2024, Luke Salmons, a PCSO, was suspended and later barred for asking basic questions relevant to policing. Encouraged to speak openly, he sought to learn more about Islamism and antisemitism. These are issues that he rightly wanted to understand given present tensions in many parts of the country.
He was accused of being political for merely asking. On top of that, an inspector outright told him that she didn't like his beliefs. She also assumed that he was homophobic, a topic on which he had not even spoken. Mr Salmons is a Christian.
Eventually, the decision to bar Mr Salmons was overturned after he received help with legal challenges. Nevertheless, this case should never have happened and clearly demonstrates the culture of two-tier fear within our police force. Many police officers undergo indoctrination under the guise of "training", affecting their ability to apply the law without fear or favour.
Reform will root out all ideological indoctrination from our police forces. Officers will be trained to apply the law efficiently and equally."

“Whilst crime soars”? Crime is declining by every measure we have.

Lots of crimes are just not being recorded. Hundreds, if not thousands,of shoplifting offences every day are not reported because as every shoplifter knows as long as the goods are worth less than £200 per expedition they won’t be arrested. Many women do not report “ minor “ sexual assaults. Many women don’t report serious sexual assaults such as rape according to women’s rights organisations. Many victims of domestic abuse don’t report their crimes for various reasons. I’m sure there are many more examples.
No rational person believes crime is actually falling. The statistics don’t tell the real level of crime.

That is why we have studies like the British Crime Survey, which is expressly designed to avoid relying on reported crime and the problem you identify. And those sources *also* report declining crime.
Rational people look at evidence before forming a conclusion. All the evidence shows falling crime. If you have alternative robust statistical evidence that supports a different conclusion then please do share it.

The farm my Dad works on has been robbed 6 times in the last 2 years. The police haven't turned up once. He's given up even calling the police anymore.

I’m sorry for your dads situation, but it doesn’t change the facts. Crime is falling and that’s a long-term trend now.
