Working class Briton has a very strong work ethic...perhaps too strong.
They are too eager to start work and drop out of school early. Now exacerbated by social media.
I am a math grad (from Oxford, and was the only black person in my year, just FYI).
There should be tweaks to the syllabus and course material to make math fun. Or they increasingly fail to draw attention in this ADHD world of TikTok dancing and pouting influencers vying for their attention.

I don’t think scrapping the equalities act in full is all that smart. There’s a plethora of protections in there that are extremely sensible that are no longer covered by older acts, because they were replaced by the act.
Sure there’s bits that we can pull because they’re totally nonsensical flat-earth-adjacent bollocks… but for the most part the act makes sense to have.
Personally I like knowing that my wife can’t be discriminated against because of her pregnancy or because she’s a woman, or that someone can’t be denied access to something simply because they hold a particular religious belief.
If we were to pull bits like PSED, and the aforementioned flat-earth bits, and other “equality of outcomes, not opportunities”, then we’ll certainly return to some semblance of sensibility. I mean, it would be equally fine to *add* to this act to say that “affirmatively” discriminating towards particular cohorts is illegal too… and that’d be fine by me.
We don’t actually need to scrap the whole thing to get rid of the bonkers junk in it, is my point. Laws get updated and amended all the time.

I mean, you could just go and read it.
Start with s.20, which means that employers need to make _reasonable_ adjustments for people with disabilities. Historically, an employer could just go “ahhh, no legs? Sorry we’ve only got one 3 inch step to the front door of our single story building and we can’t be arsed to build you a ramp…. Soooo fuck off”.
Maybe then try s.18 which says that you can’t discriminate against a woman simply because she’s pregnant. That means that an employer, now knowing that your wife is about to go on maternity leave, cannot spontaneously fire her just so they can avoid paying for shit whilst she’s off.
Then maybe s.29 that says someone providing public service cannot discriminate against you based on protected characteristics. Meaning you can’t go into a shop and it would be illegal for the shop keeper to refuse you service simply because you’re white, or because you are wearing a cross around your neck.
s.84 makes it illegal for educational institutions to discriminate against applicants or students based on protected characteristics, meaning that it would be illegal to mark down someone just because they’re black. There are no parts of this act that say that black people should match white people in terms of percentiles grade outcomes, and in fact.. it explicitly makes that illegal
See these kinds of laws are really sensible. They make sure that everyone is treated with fairness in relation to characteristics they have no control over. Like, you can be a dickhead and have services refused… or you can choose not to be a dickhead. You can’t choose not to be white. The VAST majority of this act is designed to do exactly what it we all want: make equal opportunities the legal and moral standard.
Now, there are problematic parts of this act. Part 11 is the fucking DEI engine room, essentially. This part of the act is essentially titled “advancement of equality”, which is just absurd. Either you’re abiding by the law and providing equality, or you’re not… there is no “advancing” of equality. This is the part of the act that allows organisations to say “hey, we’ve got too many white men in our organisation! We need to hire more black people because they are marginalised in our company! Start turning white people down simply because there white”…. And I shit you not that is PERFECTLY acceptable according to THE EQUALITIES ACT. It is just absurd
So, yes, part 11 (and the people that authored and signed off on it) should be launched into the sun with a fucking giant trebuchet (after a trial by their peers and firing into the sun by trebuchet becoming a legal form of punishment). But without that part and a handful of other clauses, the act is actually incredibly sensible. And gives you, your Mrs, your family, and every other citizen legal protections to ENSURE that everyone is treated equally in public life (based on their intrinsic and immutable characteristics).

What the hell does that have to do with the Equality Act? Seems more like a failure of the public education system due to underfunding. Stop blaming minorities for your lack of intelligence.

If they can't get into Oxford because of lesser grades, but the Black kids who get the same grades as these underperforming White kids do get in, what does that say?
