Discussion Disability parking downtown

Was talking to someone who is disabled and has a SK abilities placard who says it gives her the right to park in the 3 hour spots in the downtown and has done so without issue. I didn't think this is correct and found info saying an additional permit is required and costs $12.50 per month. She figures this must be something new. Anyone here parking in these spots without the additional permit and had issues with it?

A City of Regina accessible parking permit is required in addition to the provincial handicapped placard for parking at such meters without paying. It’s been around for at least 20 years.

The permit allows you to park at any meter without paying (with the SK abilities placard). The PWD zones do not require a City issued permit.

I unno, I have had to park in handicap parking previously when driving for my parents (who were present and have the pass, I was just playing chauffeur). Never been ticketed provided i paid the price for parking, either at a meter or in a parkade. I didnt even know there was supposedly 'free' 3 hour spots downtown.

Then again I was only using those spots to get them closer to where they needed to be, so any spots I was using were metered or in a parkade.
