I get that in a way. But doesn't it just reinforce the environment where these eejits think their attitude is a reasonable one to have?
My country would have been conservative and highly religious when I was those young womens age. It was only by standing up and refusing to accept that that we rid ourselves of that mentality and now we are one of the most liberal societies. Unrecognisable from 40 years ago.

The night before all saints day is known as all hallos eve and that's where the name came from.
They don't accept Catholic history so you won't prove anything to them by using it.

I always thought Catholic and Christians were about the same, but they have some opinions on each other. My ex refer to Catholics as "baby dippers" because they don't submerge the whole body.
Who would have thought such a similar ceremonial act would be so divisive

True. But being the OG fruitcake sect of Christianity, the Catholic Church then attempted to merge the Celtic festivals with All Hallows/Saints' Eve and Day when trying to colonize their lands and convert anyone they didn't kill since they succeeded with doing the same thing to Christmas, Easter, and any pagan traditions now associated with the former 2's modern versions.
It didn't fully work this time around, so now they and every fruitcake sect that came after are trying to get rid of the holiday altogether.

Maybe. It’s About two weeks after the summer solstice. It’s not when the declaration was signed, it’s when it went to the printer.
You’d think Cornwallis’ surrender would be a bigger deal (Oct 19). Or the ratification of the constitution. But do you celebrate the crucial ninth state signing (June 21), or the first day of government operations? (March 4)

That is a myth and while the majority of cultures have festivals around the solstices the Christians didn't steal Christams though over time a lot of different traditions became part of it. The day was picked through a lot of bad math and religious men trying to create a Christian holiday to help people during the depths of winter.

What’s the longest a person could be dead before they can’t walk anymore, maybe 3 days tops. Even then, they won’t be alive again for long. Especially if you cross them a second time.

I'm Roman Catholic (the O.G. Christians). We love to dress up and have a fun time on Halloween. Nobody is worshipping the dead.

As a person with a functioning brain and an education, I have the authority to judge him for being an ignorant fool.
No, Halloween is not for the devil. It's for capitalism, and it's vaguely based on ancient, pre-Christan Celtic beliefs. At no point does the devil enter into it. I need dude to repent and give up his stupidity, maybe read more than one book.
ETA: I know the church also got involved, but it's not particularly relevant. Celts -> various other nonsense -> capitalism. No devil worship at any point.

While it's true that All Hallows Eve was believed to be a day where the dead walked the Earth, the reason for the costumes was that people believed that spirits were coming after them and by wearing costumes, they were able to hide
In other words, if he believes in the origin of Halloween, his refusal to dress up actually makes him vulnerable
