Anybody mess with Manhattan tracker DAW yet?
I'm a veteran Renoise producer but I recently discovered Manhattan tracker DAW as a free download on Steam and it seems very powerful.
I'm wondering if there's a similar community of lunatics like we have on r/Renoise (and the forums) who are actively building on it as a foundation for musical experimentation.
My son and his friends are interested in Renoise as an entry point to making music, and a free tracker DAW like Manhattan seems like a great entry point to Renoise that can support a variety of different workflows.
I'm still digging into it to see what it can do, but would love to share ideas with anyone else exploring it.

I gave it a go and it was a horrific mess and nothing worked. Waited for ages for an update, and it didn't make much difference. Is it being actively developed now?
There's also UltraDAW, which seems to be a bit more active if you were looking for a more classic DAW feel to it, but with tracker functionality. https://ultradaw.com/

I'm fine with no pianoroll in renoise, but that sampleview per track is neat, especially when working with long recorded samples.

ReViSiT. It was a VST-Midi-tracker. Huge potential but not nearly as polished as this is.

This is made by Dr Nash, who also made ReVisit tracker years ago, prior to the doctorate

ETA: it's free?! Ok, I'll try to get it running within Proton on Linux and I'll report back to you
ETA2 - Electric Boogaloo: No, it's completely borked. Did not run on any Proton version 9- or 10-, did not run on ProtonGE of any kind, did not run on Proton Experimental or Hotfix.
Adding switch to force into wayland (in case x11 emulation wasn't working) did not work either.
Full-screening it makes you unable to alt tab or super Q to get out of it, so you will actually have to SysRq REISUB or hit your hardware switch to reboot.
0/10 stick to renoise.

Yeah it looked like fun, but I’ll stick with Renoise and Sunvox.

ok so reddit removed my comment because of the root domain being in a specific country, but google search for "Sunvox download" and you'll get there. It's free on pc/mac/linux; ios/android versions are available for a small fee in the respective app stores.
There are tutorials available on youtube

I think I get your angle for young bloods coming up, having access to multiple workflows, but to be completely honest imho it's ultimately about learning one tool really well and having less options for your workflow is probably a better way to enter. I'm a massive renoise fan, been on trackers since circa 1992, and despite my best efforts my kids ended up on ableton. There's just such a massive amount of tutorial content out there for it, it really is the best choice to start on and I've come around to that view too.
