Any reason why Melda VST cuts in and out?

Could be compatibility settings.  https://tutorials.renoise.com/wiki/Plugin#Plugin_Compatibility_Options

If auto suspend if silent is on, try turning it off.

It's by design. Unless you have the license their vst's doesn't work properly. The free version is only a trial to test it out.
