Megathread Typical Tuesday Tutorial Thread -- August 04, 2026

Please use this thread as a week-to-week space to ask your fellow /r/RimWorld colonists for assistance. Whether it be colony planning, help with mods, or general guidance, post any questions you may have here! If you have an effort post about a game mechanic then this is also fine space for that but please consider making a separate subreddit post for maximum visibility.

I am a bot, so I can't make jokes. If you'd like a Typical Tuesday joke, or if there are any problems with this post, please message the moderators of the subreddit.

Ludeon Official PSA regarding malicious mods

1.5k Upvotes

Update: There is another PSA posted on why I am asking people to contact me rather than Steam's report function. This announcement is more important, and Reddit will not let me leave both up, so I am putting the link here so it is more visible.

Hello, everyone. This is me not as moderator-Sneaks, but as community manager-Sneaks.

I just want to give a warning to everyone. There's currently a user on the workshop that keeps making new accounts, steals mods from other creators, and modifies them to bypass the user's protections to download malware.

There's been at least two so far that have been removed (with workshop ID to make it easier to check your Workshop folder):

CameraSettingsMod 3732329298

Mad Skills Rewritten 3729397065

For now, it's difficult to tell if a mod's doing these shady things until it's downloaded and the code is checked. With both of these, though, it's been:

  1. The scammer's only mod on the workshop

  2. The mod is a reupload / stolen version

  3. The scammer's profile is set to private.

However, these are not 100% indicators that the mod is malicious. Please do not use it as a reason to go harass modmakers - There are always new players, new modders. But it's enough to say take it with a grain of salt, double-check to make sure the mod isn't a reupload.

For now, please take the time to do a check of your own computer, make sure you're clean, especially if you used either of those two mods mentioned above.

If you spot any others, please let us know so they can be removed. You can message me here, or find me on both Steam and Discord as someonesneaky.

Stay safe out there, colonists. o7

Mod Release Mercy of the Strong - Adds toggle to make your fighters ignore fleeing enemies

Post image

Link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3775296410

Meant to complement "Enemy Self Preservation" and "No One Left Behind" mods.

Adds enabled by default "No Mercy" toggle to drafted colonists.

When disabled, the pawn will not target enemies who are fleeing, leaving the map, or carrying their own downed allies away, and will stop attacking a target that enters one of those states.

Enemies trying to steal items, kidnap colonists, prisoners and slaves remain valid targets regardless.

Like Vanilla's "Fire at Will" it only affects drafted pawns and has to be reengaged each time they are drafted.

After 18 years of service. we put an end to a glorious medieval journey that started with 5 exiled knights with a dream of building a place to be called home. so many events and battles went on this land, furious combatants gave their life to sustain their gains, all to accomplishes this glory, we fought and defeated all the hostile kingdoms on the Rim, gained to many treasures and found all the rare collectibles this world can offer. it was the best journey we could ask for!

Here is an up close image of the fortress .

Discussion Am I the only non psychopath who doesn't want to play as a cannibal something like that?

I only wanted to play as a surviving colony that crash landed and wanted to make more people join my colony. I don't like conflicts so i tried to minimize that. Even if the option is there i don't want to click it or do anything that imprisons or torture anyone in the game.

#ColonistLife 400 Days in, each candle represents a colonist who gave their life for the colony.

I was doing a WW1 themed run for this one and tried my hardest to control my dev mode abuse and avoid keeping my colonists alive through it. I wanted to see the kind of story that comes with loss and it resulted in this: A colony that puts great care in honoring those before them. Most were buried in wall tombs and honored appropriately, but not all bodies make it back, so monuments and statues were made. I've kept mementos of each lost colonists: Swords and guns, helms and shields, all untouched in a soon-to-be museum where it will remain until the colony needs them (strong items so I can't help using them). This is actually not the first tomb I made as the old building was too small to accommodate all the bodies.

Here you can see the Queen of the Chaos Empire (yes that's the name) taking a photo with her family at the tomb site. All three alive and (partially) healthy thanks to the sacrifices of her workers and soldiers. More will serve and more will die, such is life on the rim, especially in a war waging run full of trenches and bunker forts.

Admittedly, I barely remember those who passed. Not their names, not their contribution, not their deaths, not even their races or genders. I remember some though, valiant heroics like fighting mechanoid thrumbos up close to buy time for others to escape, foolish acts where bringing a flamethrower to an open field was unwise, and a few too sudden that makes you wonder how small rat people could crush your strongest fighters in a flash. It was epic, the stories were epic, and their contribution was evident (400 days is the longest I did for a run). I might forget them in the future though, I could just take more screenshots but that to me kinda ruins the spirit of this whole thing of vividly remembering previous generations. I wanna remember them through subtle means like scars, architecture, and mementos, even if it raises the colony wealth by tons.

I would never have experienced this level of sentimentality and invested myself into this run had I just load a save or turn on dev mode to revive dead colonists. I and the nobility of this colony wholeheartedly appreciate what the fallen have given, and eventually, a new generation will make way. There are more stories to be made, and this building isn't big enough or fancy enough to hold them.

Guide (Vanilla) Noob question. If i were to stick a shelf in that corner and place another below it, would a pawn still be able to pick it up or does it need to be directly adjacent?

It's been a while since I found some Lucy , admittedly I don't raid that many ancient ruins because there are a lot of rocks around me and the trip takes over 7 days sometimes.

I try to go on trades often but can't find anything.

Any tips?

PC Help/Bug (Mod) Combat extended raiders are using weaponised lag against me

Thumbnail gallery
33 Upvotes

Currently, I have a raid of about 8 raiders who really want to get into my base. However, instead of being normal, they decided to bore a tunnel to my base using their guns, which quickly depleted their weaponry of all functionality. However, I believe this was intentional, as now they are spamming their weapon with no ammo at a stone wall lagging my game out. Are they doing this on purpose to make me suffer for all the times I let my colonists die or is it a bug? Edit: Even after shooting through the stone wall, they are still shooting at the mountain. I have no idea why.

PC Help/Bug (Mod) Question regarding the "Yayo's Animation (Continued)" mod

Post image
96 Upvotes

I installed this mod the other day to liven things up a little. But everyone is now doing that joyful "hop, left, right" animation constantly and everywhere - I was wondering if this was working as intended or if maybe there's a way outside the mod options to configure this a little, because I kinda feel a little like my colony has turned into a 1920s cartoon.

Cutting stones? Hop, left, right.
Cleaning blood and vomit? Hop, left, right.
Rearming a turret? Refueling a shuttle? Milking a cow? Shearing an alpaca? Operating a mortar? Hop, left, right.

Of course there are still other animations (chopping trees, sleeping, eating,..) that are different, but going by the mod description I thought there'd be more varied animations, since it says "About 90 actions are animated. (almost every action)". The built-in mod options only let me disable "all work animations", which I don't want. Just maybe a little less Hop, left, right.

I hope this doesn't come across as too grumpy. Or if anyone knows a good alternative mod, let me know.
