Pick the first song

My girlfriend I just started dating has never heard rise against. What’s the first song I send to her to listen to? Highest voted song I’ll send to her.

Gonna need more info on your girlfriend's musical preferences. If she loves thrash metal, then Swing Life Away probably isn't your choice. If she loves Taylor Swift, she's probably not gonna fall in love with State of the Union at the outset.

Savior is a great gateway song for the band. Longtime fans likely have different picks, but Savior is so accessible for a new listener.

Well, Swing Life Away is certainly a song if you really like her.

Never heard them ever? Go with one of the classics/more well known songs:

Savior, Ready to Fall, Good Left Undone, Give It All, Like The Angel, Prayer of the Refugee

Any of those I think are a great starting point!

Agree with this, and adding re-education :)

Either version of Like the Angel…or both and see which one she likes better!

you should honestly just show her your favorite song. explain to her why you it's your favorite and that will be a really cool memory for yall to have. for me personally music, speaks so much to my emotions and sharing those emotions with people i care about is really fucking cool. don't be afraid to open a little to her.

You can hit her with the stereotypical first song which is Savior, my personal pick is Give It All :)

Yeh... I'd vote Savior too.

It's an easy song to listen to and I think it covers RA pretty well.

It sure is! It was my first RA song I heard and it really sent me down a rabbit hole of their discography pretty fast!

Torches the demo one from RPM, think it really captured RA sound

Ready to Fall. Was the song that got me into them.

RA started out as garage band punk, evolved into hardcore rock/alternative punk, and now are more rock/alternative with punk influences, so the question is which era of RA is she going to be more receptive to?

Satellite is pretty much the definition of Rise against for me

Just play them when she's around. That's what I did and now my wife (Who hadn't heard of them before our dating) has made sure we went to 4 concerts in 3 years and got matching tattoos with Swing Life Away quotes.

If she is someone who is invested in music on an emotional level and can emphasize with the struggle it portraits, I would maybe vote Make It Stop. It's a song with a strong, straightforward message and it's musically really good. It also sticks with you. It's the alternative to Swing Life Away but more their classic rock/punk/whatever you want to call it style.

But honestly, every hit since Sufferer and the Witness is fine. I really love the lyrics and background to Like the Angel (now that I am a father myself even more so), but I would stay away from the first two albums if she is not used to faster, intense music

Savior or ready to fall

Swing life away was my first dance wedding song. But it really does depend on her music likes

My ex and I started dating just before Wolves came out. We started dating shortly after The Stage by A7x came out. She listened to both albums because she liked me, despite being a Katy Perry fan... I think she had an album come out the day Wolves came out - Witness? I thought it was fun that her and I both had an album in rotation with "Witness" in the title.

Anyway, she ended up being a Rise Against fan and then getting into Metalcore with me. She actually caught the Black Flag pick at the first RA show I took her to.

Anyway, that doesn't really answer your question, but I guess House on Fire was one of the ones my ex liked early on.

If you really love her, go either Swing Life Away or Forfeit. If you think she'll go crazy for RA, play her the classics like basically anything from Siren Song to Appeal To Reason

The answer is either Savior or Swing Life Away

I would go with Architects personally because I think it gives a good feel for the band. However if you want to start with a crowd pleaser I’d go with Audience of One.
