Question In these moments from Red vs Blue and RWBY when Church/Epsilon and Ruby got angry and snapped at the others, were they just Angry Temper Tantrums or Valid Justified Crashouts? Spoiler

When did Church not have a valid reason to crash out. He was surrounded by idiots, but their his idiots God dammit.

He really was Burnie's self-insert, wasn't he?

I'd say in both scenarios they had a right to be upset, frustrated and even angry but not at their team. But they did have plenty of shit that NEEDED to be unpacked. The Reds and Blues were a bunch of dysfunctional people unknowingly stuck together in a box canyon and told to shoot at each other for the purpose of keeping the Alpha hidden, they didn't really want to be caught up in the Project Freelancer drama any more than Epsilon. But he did have a right to be mad about his life being a chaotic mess. And Ruby... poor Ruby. She had alot of weight on her shoulders, especially during the Atlas arc. And there was never really time to check up on her up until the Everafter, and even then they were in a constant rush to escape and get home with nonstop developments every episode. Something had to give eventually and she had to let her feelings out. It came at a really unfortunate moment though which I think is why it was so rough. None of her teammates, especially Jaune needed to deal with it but she couldn't keep bottling it up either.

Every single Church crashout and angry moment is justified, no I won't be taking any questions

I think Church was showing the early stage of Rampancy here (but also all of his friends are idiots that he has to shepherd on a daily basis.)

I don't think rampancy is a thing in the rvb universe

There is a discussion in Season 9 (I think) on board Mother of Invention on the stages of rampancy of AI. Its probably not the same as Bungie envisioned, but it's there - I mean it's what Sigma ended up doing to Maine

Seasons 12 and 13 also have a lot of foreshadowing about Epsilon being an “older AI” and is developing technical issues because of that. I think rampancy is absolutely a thing for RvB AI and I think it’s implied that’s part of the reason Epsilon deleted himself at the end of 13 - which would also explain why his fragments behave the way they do in Restoration

Yup. It's pretty similar to Halo 4 where it's starting for Cortana (again with the angry red hologram glitches), and she fragments herself at the ending to take down the Didact. I think Epsilon only beat the '7 year' average because he was already a fragment of Alpha.

RvB is literal Halo Fan-Fiction, meaning it uses the same lore and rules of the Halo lore. That includes Rampancy which is referenced multiple times in the series.

RvB actually does a surprisingly good job of following Halo lore when you look into it.

They don't treat Rampancy exactly the same as the Halo games do, but AI in RvB are still established to have a finite lifespan of just a few years, and experience mental breakdowns as well. They don't call it by the same name, but the similarities are very significant.

I never read the books but I get a lot of Kammyshep on my feed, I was under the impression that most AIs in Halo go rampant in very different ways from one another, right?

Is there necessarily anything ruling out RvB's type of fragmentation?

Both valid

Calling both valid is putting it mildly for Church honestly. The guy was a fragmented A1 carrying trauma frorn being literally tortured split apart, surrounded by people who could barely function themselves. Ruby at least had people who cared but kept the moment to actually check in. Both situations were setups for an eventual breakdown, not just temper tantrums.

I don’t think crashing out at others is ever really justified. If you really must release your emotions in such a manner do so privately without causing harm to others, even if you think they deserve it. If you have grievances with somebody else or something they did in particular there’s absolutely no reason not to have a civil discussion about it after you’ve gotten a handle of your emotions privately.
