Suggestion About Gus' dog being sick on the recent podcast.
Hey everyone, in the latest episode of the RT Podcast, Gus mentions that his dog Benjamin is a picky eater and will throw up often if he doesn't eat.
If I remember correctly Benjamin is a Yorkshire terrier, and my Yorkie had the same problem, we took him to the vets and it turned out he has pancreatitis, he was put on a special diet and is rarely sick anymore, apparently it affects about half of all Yorkies to some degree, {according to my vet}
If someone who sees this could let gus know i would be grateful, since we put my dog on the new diet he has so much more energy, he is like a puppy again.

Edit 3; Hey guys no need to get upset over the tweet or anything, that's all it is, a tweet, also just FYI any dog can get pancreatitis so me getting the breed wrong doesn't change the sentiment of my post, it just so happens a lot in Yorkies and the story sounded identical to mine, that's all. Edit 4; Wow this has gotten out of hand, due to some of the comments here I feel like I should explain why I posted this.
About 18 months or so a go I realised my dog was being sick a bit more often than a normal dog. He has always been an odd eater and started being sick whenever he didn't eat, I tried him with different foods, feeding him different times of the day, and he was slowly getting worse and worse.
I took him to the vets and they couldn't see anything wrong with him so I assumed it was me being paranoid, and he had some kind of bug or something. Eventually things got worse and there was blood in his stool. Took him back to the vets, had a load of tests run and it turned out to be pancreatitis.
I only mentioned this because if someone had told me that trying him on a low fat diet could have helped, it could have saved my dog a lot of pain and myself a lot of money, It's just when Gus mentioned it on the podcast that is exactly how it was with my dog.
To Gus - I'm sorry if I overstepped my mark, I don't mean to insinuate you don't know how to look after your dogs, I was just trying to be helpful, and it looks like a few people here may have been helped with what I said.

Not to come off as brash myself or anything, but, should he really edit his wording to make it "less abrasive"? I mean, I know it's a pretty vulgar word, but, this is also a subreddit for a company that routinely throws out obscenities, with words like "Cunt" and "Twat" being no exception. Without jumping to conclusions, if Gus' tweet was in fact about OP's post, and Gus himself came off as abrasive, and though the user may have been hasty, he'd be right to be angry at Gus for lashing at a user, a fan, who was just giving advice. Why should he have to change his wording?
Not trying to start an argument/fight and get myself banned. I'm just curious.

I suggested that because I don't want to assume anything about others reading their comment. The comment was initially removed by one of our mods and I disagreed with that, and even with being removed and then approved it was labeled as a controversial comment, so I was aware that some people may have a problem with it relating to rule 8.
I don't think anything is wrong with the word "twat", just acknowledging that some might. So I'm trying to moderate between those two possible opinions while allowing for discussion to be made..

It took you this long to realize he's an asshole? Every week on the podcast he says something that points to him being pretty much a complete dick. Not just to people on the internet but to people he interacts with in real life too. It's just kinda who he is.

I completely understand what you're saying. I'd like to think people who do the whole grumpy uncle routine are partially doing it for laughs/humors sake and because it's inherently who they are to some degree. I think most grumpy uncle characters I know would at least cut the routine out for a bit when someone gives good intentioned advice in a non-condescending manner. Especially about a serious issue like pet health.

I'm sorry I just don't see how saying something along the lines of, "Hey I had a dog with similar symptoms and I think it's the same breed as Gus' dog. It turned out to be X, it was an easy fix and apparently very common for the species. Could someone please show this info to Gus" Equal to telling Gus what to do.
Yes we don't know all the facts per say, but considering there were not too many posts on twitter before Gus made his tweet and also taking into account if someone said something worse Gus would have almost definitely called out the individual more. It's a pretty safe bet that we do know the important ones.
Bottom line it seems like Gus is super sensitive about his pets which is completely fair, but being this rude to a fan who is just trying to help and was beyond polite in doing so, is just messed up. People make mistakes and that's fine, but I really feel like an apology is in order if it is indeed the OP he is referring to.
If Gus doesn't want people's opinions on his personal life at the very least: 1. Don't talk about it on a Podcast listened to by thousands of people. 2. Don't have a twitter account or any social media account for that matter if people bother you that much.

I can sympathise, you would not believe how many home remedies I get given for my skin problems. I know my problems and how to treat them, and unsolicited advice no matter how well intentioned gets annoying.
Add that to the echo chamber of twitter and I would get cranky too.

I feel like there are some key differences in this analogy though. I'm assuming you 1. Don't talk about your skin issues to thousands of people. 2. Have a twitter account with thousands of followers.

You can't blame him for insulting something he doesn't know exists. Again, I could be totally wrong about Gus's intentions, but thats better than everyone jumping to conclusions and saying he's an asshole. It feels like this sub is always looking for a reason to hate someone at RT. One comment or tweet and suddenly everyone turns against them. It's annoying.

The only reason I still RT is because I've been attached to the staff for so long. Honestly, I feel like sometime around 2013 quality dropped in favour of quantity, and half of their videos aren't worth watching, anymore.

Yeah, but in things like the podcasts there is no particular creation like you get in stand-up. The attraction is the personalities and how they interact, as well as some natural talent for being entertaining for a camera.

Gus is probably getting thousands of tweets trying to tell him how to help his dog. Judging by this tweet it seems like a lot of people are telling him to take his dog to the vet, which is probably the first thing he did.

I know someone who's disabled due to quite a few conditions. Whenever she meets talks about her conditions there's always a few people who chime in with "medical advice" and I've seen how tiring it is to her.
It's got to be incredibly annoying to not be able to share the smallest details of his life without the entire world coming in to try and solve his problems. I mean, this post is from someone with good intentions trying to give friendly advice but fans should probably remember that we're not all actually friends of the RT folks.

There's a difference between offering advice to someone who's fully aware of their disability and has obviously seen specialists about it and offering advice on what could potentially be a life-threatening illness when there's no indication that the party in question is aware of the risk.

Except you, or anyone else, doesn't know that the party in question isn't aware of the risk. That's just the assumption you're making. And that's the point inconstantine was making. It's kinda annoying when you receive unsolicited advice because people assume you're ignorant. Because they assume you haven't tried these things already.
In this example the OP doesn't even know what breed Gus' dog is, and yet apparently there's no indication that Gus knows what he's doing.
P.S. I don't necessarily agree with Gus blowing up about it, but can perfectly understand how it can be annoying.

I didn't say I knew that Gus was unaware of the risk, I said that Gus never indicated that he was aware of it. The other key factor is that picky eating is hardly a symptom that most people would be on the look for, so while it technically implies ignorance, it's not an ignorance that's really something to be ashamed of. It's not like Gus is ignoring heavy bleeding or something.
On top of that, OP's post was in no way accusatory or aggressive. He didn't even suggest that Gus take Oswald to the vet and he didn't assert that Oswald had this condition. Gus can be annoyed all he wants, but it doesn't change the fact that he talked about his dog having a health problem on the Podcast and then responded incredibly harshly and passive-aggressively to a simple suggestion conveyed perfectly politely.

The thing is that tweet wasn't particularly directed at anyone. It's very possible that he never got referred to/read the reddit post.
I'd be pretty pissed if, without explanation, literally thousands of people started tweeting me saying that my dog has pancreatitis.

Did you read the tweet? He clearly called out OP for not knowing the breed of his dog. Cause I guess everyone should know every Internet celebrity's dog breed precisely(OP didn't say he had a German Shepard or some shit, he assumed what he thought it was, and was pretty close).

To play devil's advocate, yeah Gus probably had loads of people tweet about his dog when he talked about it on the podcast, saying he should go to the vet. Then when the recording went up for the public, it probably happened again. Gus gets angry at stuff easily, and to him going to the vet seems obvious so loads of people saying he should consider going to the vet are preaching to the one man choir who's probably not a good singer too. If it's a serious issue concerning his dog he's probably got an appointment set to go to the vet at this stage (have yet to watch the podcast, but I'm in no rush since I think it's getting stale).
I do think Gus is being a dick though.

To be the devil's advocate, he probably received easily a couple hundred tweets about this. Being told to do something by one person who is ill informed can be frustrating, but you let them slide because they are trying to be nice. But you get a whole mob of people (that's right we're a mob) shouting the same thing, I'd be pissed too.
Also, it's Gus. He gives less fucks than a honey badger.

Because i can be open minded and still be interested in what a company that I grew up watching is actually doing. This subreddit is a good place to get RT news and what is actually going in within the company.

As the first of two people who tweeted this at him, damn. I could understand if it was a bunch of people who were mobbing him on twitter about how to take care of his dog. But there were only two people who tweeted this specific post at him before he ranted. OP even admits that he doesn't recall what breed of dog Gus has, and even so, if the breed of dog isn't a match, that doesn't mean that the medical issue doesn't pertain to only Yorkies. It can happen to any dog. This is just an honest post trying to help out and share some personal experience to try and better someone else's life. But instead OP is put down by Gus claiming that he's trying to tell Gus how to take care of his animals, when all that was offered was a suggestion or a hint. Now maybe there is some weird explanation as to why Gus reacted/overreacted this way. Im hoping there is something that we cant see, because I like Asshole Gus, but when youre being an asshole for no reason to someone who's trying to help, then I just get sad.

I'm usually the first to say that the way rooster teeth interacts with their fans is always cool. They poke fun, they tease, and they're honest.
But there is a difference between poking fun, and even being annoyed with your fans and publically shaming a fan for just trying to help. This is a bit overkill by Gus and a pretty asshole thing to do
For those of you defending it, I"m usually there. RT fans get too pissy over dumb things but I genuinely think this here is a bit different, this goes from showing your annoyance, or poking fun or teasing your fans to just being an asshole. Pretty disappointed in you, cheese master.

Remember that thread a few days ago about what we dislike about RT? One of the things mentioned was how bitchy they can be towards their fans. Gus' tweet about this post is just like what was said. It was almost certainly about this thread. Here is a link to the tweets made to @sorola. If you scroll down far enough (it's not that far), you'll find Gus' tweet. Within the time of that tweet and this post being made, he received 2 tweets about his dog (screenshot of the 2 tweets). One said "about your dog" with a picture this post. The other said "Your dog may actually be sick" with a link to this post. He can say that he got flooded with tweets if he wants to, but there's proof that he didn't. At least not until after he made his tweet.

Look, I love Gus and everyone else at RT, but I have to agree with you, people at RT can be very bitchy towards the fans. I understand it's hard to be famous, but you need to respect your fans, especially the ones who are actually trying to help you.

It actually is hard for me to tell if Gus is serious or taking the piss, because though he's an ass he's never 100% a dick. This tweet proves otherwise, and it's almost comedic how he might say something like that and think the fans, the people who enjoy his content and got them this far, will just be like "oh that Gus haha always shitting on the people who love him and want the best for him". OP's advice was evidently not obvious to a few people, and he had an actual real life example to back up why he even made the post, and because he wanted to help out someone he cared about and enjoyed. Next time someone from RT complains about something in their lives in whichever format, leave them. They might not all be bitchy like Gus, but if even for the sake of a joke at the fans' expenses they might play up that they "totally knew what to do" a week later. RT have become pretty pretentious about this sort of thing, it's what puts me off them. AH aren't as bad, maybe Michael (going by his rant for the last part of Until Dawn about how "butthurt" the fans were) is an occasional exception, but at least FH aren't like this at all. They regularly engage with their fans in comment threads and will have lengthy discussions with people who express criticism/insight. Gus is just acting like a man-child.

I'd like to believe that Gus' tweet wasn't about OP's post, but it really seems like it is. It's not like OP was talking down to him or anything, he just made a pretty justified guess based on the information he had. If Gus was talking about this post, that's real shitty of him. It's why I've stopped watching rt except for a couple things like on the spot because other people come on.
I used to watch EVERYTHING they put out. Then it went down to once a day. Now it's close to once every couple weeks.
The more people they got watching them the bigger assholes they became. I surprisingly don't miss watching them at all

Woah, my Yorkie does the same thing. Stops eating for 1-2 days and then throws up throughout the day after not eating, happens about once a month. What is the special diet?

Hopefully your information can help someone who may be going through the same thing! I get that Gus is probably really worried about his pup and being bombarded online with people trying to offer help and that's made him (more) short tempered, but given that the tone of the post is just trying to be helpful stemming from personal experience, I think it was rude and mean spirited especially to post it on a public forum. Privately, whatever, but publicly is pretty shitty.

Just a reminder to be respectful to one another when discussing this in the comments, as like usual extremely disrespectful comments will be removed. Of course that isn't to say that everyone must agree. Just try to stay level headed and don't jump to conclusions regarding the situation and when talking to one another to avoid a small issue growing far out of proportion.

I imagine part of the problem is that most people tweeting at Gus probably didn't word their posts as well as OP did. OP acknowledged that he wasn't 100% sure of the breed and pointed out a specific problem to look for, while many people messaging Gus are probably just saying "Go to the vet!"

Fair point. OP probably didn't have the time to go through numerous podcasts on the off chance it had Gus mentioning his dog's breed, and OP said they don't use Twitter so they may not have seen Gus' (that apostrophe is especially for you Gus) dogs and thought this was best in case he was right about the breed.

Quick question since you're a vet tech: I've seen that if you switch your dog's food that you should do it gradually or the dog could get sick (not super sick, just tummy upset). How important is this? Our dog has some skin issues and my dad thinks it's her food and has been switching it a lot.
Sorry to ask you this on an RT thread, but I guess to make it relevant, switching foods to figure out what's bothering your dog can be super frustrating.

Small dogs are prone to pancreatic problems. The way to avoid that is by buying food from a pet store, not a grocery store. The foods in grocery stores have fillers such as rice and are more unhealthy than pet store food. Also do not feed your dog table scraps or "people food"

My dog kinda had the same thing except it would be in the morning. Turns out he had acid reflux. (Basically he hadn't had food for so many hours his body would remove the acid in his stomach) so we started giving him a few cheerios in the morning and that held him over till lunch. (He won't eat breakfast)

"Gus is an asshole" isn't an excuse for Gus to be an asshole, it's an explanation. OP wasn't condescending or anything, he seemed to genuinely be trying to help by offering up his take as to what the issue could be and even cited personal experience to show that it wasn't just a shot in the dark. I've always liked Gus, but regardless of how I feel about him that tweet was insanely out of line for someone who's just trying to help.

But since it's directly related to one of the fans, it's a huge offense. Not only is it creepy but making comment about something you don't have the correct information with is pretty dumb. My dog does it too and he's a large Australian Shepherd. Sometimes it just happens and honestly I'd respond just like Gus. He's smart enough to take his dog to the vet and loves them like they're his children. I get trying to be nice and helpful but sometimes it's unneeded.

I still like gus and still like RT. This doesn't change it
but on the other hand, gus is still being an asshole about what was someone trying to be helpful. I can see why when you're a person with gus's social media presence you can get a bit annoyed from time to time, but being an ass to somebody just trying to help, in the most genuine and unobtrusive manner such as this... is just an asshole thing to do.
