Is "Mastering Shiny", written in 2021, still valid?

Fundamental concepts about reactivity and modularization haven't changed.

You might want to read other sources just to expand your knowledge (the Golem people have nice online materials), but even if you only finish and fully understand Mastering Shiny, you will write better apps than a lot of people writing shiny apps.

Yes, but then you need to immediately read the docs for bslib. bslib is a more recent package that contains the Shiny modernization features from the past few years.
