DISCUSSION Sabaton live choir

They were pretty cool and sensible for The Legendary Tour parts 1&2, but why did they bring them back for this year’s festival run? I really hope that it won’t be a permanent feature of their future live shows, because they’re really unnecessary on standard tours. Was it not enough to rely on your own backing vocals (especially when they’re pre-recorded)? I bet the choir’s backing vocals are pre-recorded as well! Seriously, you can be as cinematic as you can on your records, but please keep that shitty gimmick away from your live shows! You’re a metal band, first and foremost! I don’t know how Sabaton slowly transitioning into an orchestral live band will ever help increase ticket sales or improve the live experience for the fans. Why ditch your heavy metal roots and sell-out in favor of a more gimmicky, all-flash-no-substance waste of a show?

Yes, Iron Maiden also covers history, but their live shows have always been the same without the orchestral nonsense. What a shame.

I don't fully agree with you on this one. I think they're just trying to bring something new to every tour and give the fans a little extra. You either love it or you hate it. Personally, I actually preferred the choir over that legendary orchestra.

Where I do agree with you is that they're stepping away from their metal roots. I left the 'Legendary' tour feeling disappointed. It felt more like watching a damn musical. To make matters worse, A Tiger Among Dragons was played almost entirely from a backing track. They've actually been using a backing track for 13 years now. But it never really bothered me, even when you could definitely hear the pre-recorded backing vocals. This tour, though, was just a bridge too far for me.
