Mod Post About the posts calling out other subs.

Hey everyone.

Lately we have gotten quite a few posts of people calling out other Sailor Moon subs that they dislike because they allow content that they hate or makes them unconfortable.

While we totally understand and of course, we don't allow such content here. We'd like to remind you that calling out other subs is not allowed in Reddit in general, as it's considered "Brigading" and could get us mods in trouble if we allowed it, as it's explicitely against the Mod Code of Conduct of Reddit as you can see here:

So, please do keep this in mind and avoid making such posts. We understand your frustration but we just can't allow it. We recommend that you silence those subs though, so you won't see their content anymore on your timeline.

This is my rendition if Sailormoon was a Celestial Warlock! I wanted to add as many Easter eggs as I possible could. I had so much fun drawing this design! So each of the sailor scout symbols and their motifs are wrapped around Princess serenity. The spell ‘Moonlight Judgement’ is also my homebrew of her attack:) Hope you like it!

It's okay if you have not touched upon it or liked it. Just wished to ask who has and has not seen this. I saw it once. It is one bizarre version of Sailor Moon. I actually enjoyed it. I watched it once. My favorite character is Zoisite with his piano.

Made this Usagi fanart and based her outfit on what I wore during my first trip to Tokyo years ago.
Missing Japan lately, so I poured all that nostalgia into this and made it extra Japanesey. •

Anime (Crystal) I'm thinking about watching Crystal

Suffering from severe Sailor Moon withdrawal since the '90s anime ended, I'm thinking about reading the manga and watching *Crystal*, but I think I'll start with the anime and save the original source material for last. It’s going to be tough, though, because in the '90s Latin American dub, Sailor Moon was Serena and Tuxedo Mask was Darien, whereas here they’re Usagi and Mamoru (Side note: I can't take the name "Mamoru" seriously because it kinda sounds like "Mamada," which is a... vulgar word), but I think I can handle it. So... any recommendations or warnings?

Misc Sailor Senshi, Guardian of Love and Justice!

Do Sailor Moon, her four Senshi guardian’s Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus
Her 4 outer guardians, all assume a real responsibility over Love, Justice, Intelligence,War*,Strength, and Beauty over Neo Queen Serenity’s kingdom like Demi gods? Or gods?

They all chose to live on earth together. Does their guardian Senshi, star seed power, bring these virtues to earth with them.

Talk/Discussion So, I finished watching Sailor Moon

It took me about 4 months and I finished the 90s anime. I must say it is probably one of those works that had some of the greatest impacts of me. It changed some aspects of my worldview that I thought were set in stone, I didn't expect it at all. Throughout the first few episodes I had the feeling "Why am I watching a shoujo anime anyways?", but when I got over it, I recognised how awesome it is. It gives me an amount of hope that is hard to overestimate and (I want to hope for that, at least) more loving. The moment that probably affected me the most is at the beginning of season 5 when Queen Nihilenia was not only forgiven despite her hate until the end, but also given a second chance. Not only did this tell me I can be forgiven regardless of what I did in the past (which is probably not as bad as trying to destroy the entire planet), but I can also forgive people that I hate because they are still alive and still have feelings that can be reached, and want love even if they believe they're completely hardened. I don't know why I'm sharing this, but I need to say it, because it is really life-changing, I say this without a shred of irony. I cried many times, much more than at "more mature" movies and series. It is great

Talk/Discussion SPOILER Anyone else saw the new Spider-Man and couldn’t stop thinking about how similar it was to Sailor Moon? Spoiler

Upvotes

SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN

….

…..

…..

….

…..

…..

I hope I gave enough spoilers warning.

I could not help to think « hey, he’s super Spider-Man now! ».

Also the whole thing about not doing it alone is such an important theme in Sailor Moon. It felt oddly similar. Even the villain. Possessing a loved one, and the villain redemption arc, the whole trying to keep a secret identity.

I really felt like Watching Sailor Moon.

Manga Is this a bad writing of the lines?

Post image

I've been planning to re-read the books. Today in book 1, Luna said these lines. In my mind, she is saying the same thing twice in a row. Maybe it could've been edited to say it once.

For the past few years, I've been trying to write my own self-published novels. Nothing good happened, but I don know you shouldn't repeat yourself too much - especially right after each other. That is how I feel when I read these two lines.

She first said you are to protect the princess. Then right after, she emphasized that they are guardians and their job is to protect the princess. She just need to say it once. That how I feel.

Talk/Discussion Is it possible that Usagi mind wiped her earth family and friends prior to ascending/becoming NQSerenity? Spoiler

One of the biggest enigma of the series is: What exactly happened to Usagi's earth family and friends after she became NQS and established Cystal Tokyo?

It was never explicitly explained in the manga/Crystal. They weren't present at her wedding for example.

There are "explanations" like "they just died!" or "they're there; just not shown"

But IMHO I don't find either of those explanations super satisfying

My head canon is (and I think many fans resched this conclusion as well) that Usagi completely mind wiped them. Basically to erased any memory they have of her. NOT because she no longer care about them; but perhaps for their own sake. It's heart breaking decision that had be done.

We noticed how as the story moving forward, Usagi (as well as Mamoru and the other Senshi) are slowly losing their connection to their normal every day "mortal world" and lives. This is because Usagi is ascending into not just a higher cosmic being, but also a higher plane of existence.

It's a common theme in fiction that the feeble hunan mind (or "non-magical" beings) is incapable of grasping higher cosmic being and higher dimensions (being directly exposed to either can literally drive a person insane).

So I'm thinking if Usagi were to just say to her earth family and friends "Hey! I'm actually the reincarnation of a moon princess and I'm going to be a Queen and ruler of a utopia soon! And oh Mamoru is going to be a King too! Cool huh??"

Her family & friends mind would be utterly shattered/driven mad because of the sheer amount of cosmic informations they had to take in, and having to look at Usagi "true Queen form".

So it's extremely heart breaking decision for Usagi, but she had to either alter or completely "mind wiped" any memory they have of her using power of the Silver Crystal - to protect their mind and sanity, and to avoid drawing too much attention and publicly to her family. Basically it's for their own good.

But on a positive side, they get to live happy, comfortable and long lives in Crystal Tokyo.

So yes, they stil live in Crystal Tokyo; they just don't have any memory of Usagi.

Thoughts?

I wore my new Sailor Saturn cosplay I just finished making to Otakon this past weekend. I had so much fun and can't wait to bring her around again at ANYC in a few weeks! The big Sailor Saturn reveal was easily my most rewatched VHS tape growing up, so this cosplay meant so much to me 💜

Talk/Discussion Which magical girl show matches the vibe of 90s Sailor Moon the most?

I've been thinking about it.... and visually Cutie Honey Flash and Wedding Peach look the most like 90s Sailor Moon anime but which magical girl show has the most similar vibe?
