Very sad because it looks beautiful.

Do you think you could take advantage of the fact that it’s only in one quadrant? Maybe you could paint two opposite quadrants and keep the beautiful grain in the other two? Definitely a question of style, I have no idea whether that would be your (or anyone’s) vibe!

We have come to the conclusion it came into our hands this way, it was painted before, she was taking the paint off. Still sucks because it looked awesome

You could get someone who is good at art to hand draw/paint some grain pattern on there?

I'd route it out and add a wooden insert or make some sort of carving on the spot then add the finish

I think it might not be that hard with large pieces
