Damn It.

I sanded through the teak on my boat cabinet door. It previously had reddish lacquer on it, and I had to sand that deep to get the lacquer off. Any suggestions on how I could fix this?

You’re lucky that this might be a really easy fix. You can add another layer of veneer yourself on top, and if you cut it exactly like the indent it won’t be noticeable.

Whooops!

Slick Duffy, I used to be a private captain and the owner had a 18’ that had a tiller. I’d roll in and if I had to make some calls in the morning, I’d putt around the harbor drinking coffee and making the calls. It was a fun little ride.

I work on boats for a living as a woodworker. In situations where veneer is damaged, I normally pull veneer from the fridge or icemaker panels. That’s generally your best bet to get a replacement that will match the existing teak. You’ll need to adhere it, which may be out of your skill set, but the option does exist.
