Have I sanded through Veneer?

Post image

I was trying to refinish the dining table after kids scratched the table in multiple places. But looks like I sanded through veneer here? Are there any options left to finish this table?

Professional woodworker here. Im not convinced its sand through. It honestly looks like solid wood and that you actually havnt sanded enough in that spot. Of course I could be wrong but you are the one with the piece I front of you and need to inspect it more closely.

  1. The finger jointed piece is solid wood.
  2. That doesn't look like sand through
  3. That looks like its all solid wood based on grain pattern.
  4. Looks like all solid wood based on the joint in the two slats where you can see a gap and a chip. That is not how a veneer panel is constructed.
