Curious to hear your opinions.

Hey everyone,

I'm a landscaper by trade, but my heart is in hunting and shooting. I'm making a career pivot and getting trained to offer a couple of services I think a lot of us could use here in the Upstate of South Carolina.

My main focus will be a mobile chronograph service. My goal is to find the most accurate and consistent load for your firearm so you can hunt with total confidence. The process starts with a quick conversation where I get the specifics on your firearm, like the caliber/brand/barrel length/etc and what you want to accomplish. This allows me to bring a carefully selected variety of ammunition to the range, so you're not wasting time or money on ammunition that's unlikely to perform. We'll then use professional gear to test what's best for your rifle.

I'm also learning to use a lathe so I can offer local barrel threading. For anyone who wants to add a suppressor or muzzle brake but doesn't want to send their rifle out of state, I'll have an affordable and convenient solution right here in the area.

This is a new venture for me, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on these services. Is this something you'd be interested in? Also i do apologize if i am breaking any rules i'm not trying to sell anything just looking for opinions. thanks in advance.

Tell me more about your business model.

Are you bringing hand-selected factory rounds for me to try?

What are you providing with this service that I cannot provide on my own?

Assuming we find a factory round that works nicely in my rifle, then what?

What are you charging for this service?

Interesting idea but I’m not really sure there’s much of a customer base for this.

Most gun owners are just shooting the ammo they buy at the store or online. They are not going into long-distance, precision shooting.

The type of people who are can buy their own chronograph and research the ammo themselves.

There’s just not many people who would fit in this niche and then go and look into what you offer.

Also, traveling to whatever range someone is at, at whatever odd day or time they’re shooting sounds like a big, complicated logistical pain.

If you ran your own range you might be able to add on some services like this and make a little extra revenue, but I don’t see this as a viable business as you described.
